You're completely correct, unironically, his entire purpose is to actually force the player into combat situations. The devs were getting pissed at players going about sections in ways they didn't want, so they just made a character that literally forces you into a playstyle.
Yasuke has fuck off amounts of HP and apparently he regenerates a chunk of health off every kill, so you have to fuck up colossally to die as him. His parkour is very clunky and there's even areas of the map (notably viewpoints for syncing the map) that you can't reach because he doesn't have the grappling hook that Naoe has. His stealth is shit and he can't even silently assassinate people even if you sneak up on them because he does shit like shove his sword through their back and lift them in the air while yelling and his victim is screaming, alerting the entire countryside to your presence.
These are the cucks that decided to make it so that fighting enemies 1-2 levels above you turns even common guards into damage sponges that take 10 minutes to kill. From what I've seen in Shadows, they went even further and just made enemies too high level immune to damage from you. They're the ones that notoriously made it so that the hidden blade doesn't 1-shot stronger enemies, even if you put tons of points into it and dedicate your build around it. They put tons of time into dogshit enemy mechanics and they demand you engage with them, as opposed to the Valhalla devs that saw that complaint and let you 1-shot even bosses as long as you succeeded a quicktime event.
