Funny story, Pornhub owned Brazzars but pretend not to as porn sites were piracy sites and they didn't want to admit they were just selling their own content. The reason they made Brazzars was to avoid being bonked by credit processors and to fool people. Also, Pornhub started as Foosball streaming site, but the goy kept using it for porn so they changed the name and purpose, eventually made their own porn production companies, and the rest is history.

Equestria Daily was huge dude, you don't even understand. If you were even tangentially a fan of MLP's fanbase you used Equestria Daily, there wasn't even really a question about it. There isn't really a vtuber equivalent out there but it was effectively the aggregation site for fan content.

I think a big reason Vtubing doesn't have those interesting niches is the origins of the vtubing boom in the west relied on people staying in doors and not having any money for a long time period. The type of people simply aren't there. Also the scene when it comes to internet creation has changed by a lot
