He didn't hire Balldo Law, he hired Balldo's buddy Ty Beard who failed to file on time and tried to notarize his own paperwork. Vic lost the anti-SLAP suite as a result, and was forced to pay hundreds of thousands. The law was literally changed to be less harsh as a result of how bad he lost, but he was still on the hook.

MMORPG's are like the bane of streaming interaction.
From what I understand he's effectively one of the heads of the studio. It's still building, but slowly. The anime licensing business is a hard one to get into, but they're getting there slow and steady. They got the rights to some well-known shows, but while they've dubbed them, they need to get distribution rights, which is a whole other beast.
Personally I'm hoping it's all sorted within the year. I expect they'll announce something at the next Anime Matsuri.
