I'm hesitant to throw accusations around over historical jokes given this wasn't always a consideration, plenty of places I frequented back in the day would make edgelord jokes about paedophilia just like they would about terrorism/school shootings etc., it genuinely was just a dumb joke. The problem is that paedophiles are getting better at integrating themselves into otherwise harmless communities, so you end up with the risk that even if you're joking around in good humour, the guy laughing along with you might not be. It's why I feel uneasy sometimes about the rapeposters on /vt/, because even though it's probably ironic shitposting, there's always that possibility that it isn't.
I still don't like immediately assuming the worst about people (the pure retardation around that one Pippa/Kirsche stream was painful) but seeing how comfortable "MAPs" are managing to make themselves with just a little bit of emotionally-driven language over the last couple of years has made me reconsider how I feel about certain brands of offensive humour; you really have to know you're in company who'd laugh, rather than applaud.
