The US has a history of some horrendous food handling conditions, which resulted in the FDA. Over the past half century, the FDA has basically become a meme agency and doesn't enforce shit, which resulted in the slow return to shit conditions. I hate vegans but I agree with them that stuffing hundreds of chickens in crowded and filthy areas is a bad idea.

Yeah, that lady was crazy. She gave away her recipes for free so it's not like she was charging money for a miracle cure, but there was (still is probably) a cult of personality around her. It was so sad seeing these videos of kids who were being fed that shit by their parents. Of course drinking what was basically massive amounts of saltwater every day, without a bunch of regular water to balance it out, was making people really, really sick. "Oh, I'm finding parasites in my stool!" No, that was chunks of intestinal lining, man.
