There's a lot that's good about it, but it was just way too short for the story it wanted to tell. Idk if the visual novel improves it at all, but it's never getting finished because of all the shit going on with Jun Maeda.

Pretty much, yeah. It's very simple, but little cues and the music and overall atmosphere of the game translate much better to scarier exerience when you're playing it yourself.
