Kids are impressionable and it's even worse because kids WILL do things just to spite people they dislike so kids just double down on enjoying sodas because of how mean dentists can come off to kids. As much as shaming people for bad habits it really only works on adults. Kids don't need to be coerced into doing something through fear because they just grow to hate the action.

I blame her parents for bad research on dentists and just choosing the cheapest one.
Yeah some of these stories came out during the first tooth arc, I have said her fear of dentists is justified from her history with them. Same with her distrust of therapists and the shitty ones she has dealt with.
