As a kid I had a lot of bad experiences with dentists which makes me never want to go to one. I'm just amazed my teeth aren't as bad as hers, guess it's just that I don't drink soda usually and even at my worst neet phase I wasn't quite as down bad.

Kids are impressionable and it's even worse because kids WILL do things just to spite people they dislike so kids just double down on enjoying sodas because of how mean dentists can come off to kids. As much as shaming people for bad habits it really only works on adults. Kids don't need to be coerced into doing something through fear because they just grow to hate the action.

Yeah some of these stories came out during the first tooth arc, I have said her fear of dentists is justified from her history with them. Same with her distrust of therapists and the shitty ones she has dealt with.
