I don't mind sex workers in the slightest, I think it takes a lot of mental strength to put oneself through that, especially if they're a full-on outcall/incall escorts because the threat of a fucked up John is a constant. That said, I kind of feel like doing sex work adjacent content as a vtuber is maximized cowardice in trying to have your cake and eat it too, in the sense that they're trying to reap the benefits (attention, money) of sex work but being as much disconnected from their audience/'Johns' as possible, essentially offering nothing of themselves in the exchange. It comes across to me as leeching, and is significantly worse to me than camsite/fanhub girls pushing their nudie pics on every social imaginable because it's their only income source. This is a bit different of a situation if they're a vtuber but also push IRL sex content like, say, CottontailVA, because again at least she's putting something of herself on the table.
Though vtubing is an entertainment source I enjoy unironically for the weeb larping bullshit potential of having a retard fairy, a drunkard fox, a screaming hellbird and a sassy latina ghost screaming at each other over coloured cards with funny numbers. I like the cute and occasionally sexy designs for the eye candy (fuckin' Dona Park boyo, jesus christ almighty), but I sit through hours of stream content because I like the semi-stream of consciousness chatter about random things or community in-jokes. What I don't want to see rise is a presumption that there has to be a seedier side of vtubing because of all the cartoon whores out there selling anime pussy noises behind membership passes and/or making the entire industry/subject seem like some kind of weird sex thing. To the most emphatic point being, people like Riifu/DTL/exoe who already lent a hand in doing precisely that thing to ASMR either blatantly or a bit more subtly with less overt sexuality but still relying on deep necklines and camera angles to provide 50% of the content, and then carrying it over into vtubing where they basically conceal everything behind a model that they didn't even have to make themselves most of the time. I already feel half the time I can't talk about ASMR to anyone that doesn't already know what it is because if I clue them in and they go looking and find some shit like Little Clover Whispers and her giant fucking tits that could crush Canan from a standing position, pushing her own OnlyFans/Gumroad shit, it would all just seem like dumb coomer shit.
I just don't want to be in a situation where if I have to explain what it is I do in my spare time to some one and I say "Well have you heard of vtubers?", I don't want them to call the cops under suspicion of child endangerment.
