its not like I am eating actually harmful amounts of fungus (am I?) (I have never gotten more than a little tummy hort doing this)
Also, asking for a friend, does Toasting bread make the bad go die? Like boiling water to make it clean?

Probably not - the mold will be growing a little beyond the visible part but not much. Toasting kills the mold (at least if you toast long enough to heat it through) but won't eliminate any poisonous secretions it's already generated.
