Ekko has an interview coming up in Acapella Media:

She's been featured here multiple times already... I only know of them from Ekko so I looked it up and the Editor-in-Chief is one of her fans. It's a shame, her last appearance was just glazing masquerading as an interview so I don't expect a particularly high-quality segment, but hopefully it's at least some publicity. Hopefully one day she'll make it somewhere we can get a genuine interview with real questions and not just a puff piece.

Oh and she's also sick again:

First time I hear of these people lol, though a gossip magazine for vtuber fans would work well. Getting to the point where you're getting exclusive drops, interviews and scoops from corpos and big indies so that it surpasses the informational value of a dramafag in his room just reading off of websites is gonna be a huge struggle though.

Print media has been dying in general.

Sounds like a retarded idea tbh, insofar no corpo has been able to buy their way into relevance in this industry. Copying the kings of the industry is just gonna get them called a ripoff if they ever try to sneak out of china, but sure it'll be funny I guess.

I just remembered ZZZ has a trio of (in-universe) vtuber characters (that haven't been added yet) so that's a possible avenue for it. Aren't vtubers pretty much dead in china though? Unlike indonesia with Aka Virtual and Korea with Isegye Idol, there isn't really a chinese corpo which dominates.

A merger would be highly publicized, they are required to do so by law anyway due to the investors. If it ever happens we will know almost instantly.

I'm going to preface all of this with a big fat "If the site is actually real" disclaimer.

V-tubing died in China specifically because of the Chinese government forcing "online influencers" to show their real names when they get a decent follower count. Hoyo is big, but big corpos still have to look like they're toeing the party line if they don't want to end up like Jack Ma did.

There are a couple loopholes to the law that I'm aware of; specifically, you're only legally required to show your name if you bring up IRL information on stream (basically a way to keep people under the boot of the state media :voxppinyourcoke:) or if you bring up certain hot-button topics like professions or the stock market or something. The caveat to that is that none of the platforms gave a shit about the fine details, they wanted to avoid getting "re-educated" so the vast majority of them simply forced people to put their real names on their accounts or leave (Bilibili falls in this camp IIRC). That's why Niji and HoloID has been able to get away with occasional streams on Chinese platforms; I'd bet hard cash that they have a very restricted list of things that they can actually talk about on these streams.

Conversely, if you can 100% ensure that your v-tubers will avoid IRL topics that piss off the secret police (say, by playing a character from Hoyoverse games and not diverging from that tack) and can negotiate with a given platform to bend their individual rules, you could absolutely run a v-tubing company in China.

In order to create a safe, civilized and harmonious network ecological environment and enhance the credibility and authority of the platform's top "self-media" account, the website will guide the top "self-media" account to display the front-end real-name display in the near future, so as to further Standardize the operation and management of "self-media" accounts, and make it easier for the public to implement supervision for the public's public interests. The specific description is as follows:

1. The website will guide the "self-media" account with more than 1 million fans in professional fields such as social current affairs, military, finance, law, and medical care in the near future, and will gradually expand to "self-media with more than 500,000 fans in related fields. "Account, with the user's consent, the front desk real name display is performed.
2. Ordinary users and accounts in areas that mainly share their personal daily life are not affected by the front desk real-name display.
3. After the user fills in the real name information, the user's real name will be displayed on the profile page. For unlogged-in tourist users, users who have not passed the authenticity information, users who are abnormal in behavior, and users who have been dealt with due to unfriendly behavior recently, it is prohibited to view the real-name information of other users at the front desk.
4. The website will inform users who need to display the front desk real name through a private message. Users can guide the front desk real name information through a private message link.
5. For users who receive private messages but do not fill in the front desk real-name information, the traffic and revenue of their accounts will be partially restricted, including recommendation flow display restrictions, hot search display restrictions, advertising sharing restrictions, reward revenue restrictions, etc.

Because of its social influence, the top "self-media" big Vs on various platforms have a public opinion guidance role far exceeding that of ordinary users when discussing social current hot topics. The implementation of real-name front desk is to promote the big Vs to take on the responsibility and The responsibility of matching discourse energy can further promote the ecological governance of online public opinion. In the future, the site will continuously optimize and improve the front-end real-name display process and rules, and actively improve the user experience while strengthening the main responsibility of the platform. At the same time, the website also thanks the majority of users for their active support and cooperation with the front desk real name. Weibo is willing to work with forces from all walks of life to jointly create a clear cyberspace.

If Hoyoverse wanted to make a Hololive ripoff, they'd have to either show the talent's real names (which is possible, I suppose) or stream with a fairly hard script set-up. Someone who actually knows about the Chinese online ecosystem might know more about the fine details, but it's not completely impossible to pull off. With that said, I don't think they'd ever try to reach outside of China, it'd be risky and there's no real reason for them to.

Yeah as of now it seems like most of their contacts are former EIEN talents and other tiny creators, I don't follow them but they go so far as to have Ekko listed as one of staff's oshis before she'd even debuted which is extremely strange and quite possibly a red flag for people who don't want PL stuff being outed. I can absolutely see the vision but they'll definitely struggle to achieve it in my opinion.

>Next day, two different clippers just so happen to upload clips within two hours of each other from a stream almost three weeks ago of Lumi talking about how she somehow busted her ass while doing laundry.

:ameliaThink:

Edit: I guess as a little update with her, she had to cancel streams for the last few days because she lost her voice. She had been streaming every day, multiple times a day for many of them, and for long hours for I don't even know how long anymore. In case anyone who cares doesn't know, she normally streams every day with multiple streams on most days, but lately, in an effort to finish games like KCD1, play other games, and sing, she's been streaming for long hours, sometimes waking up early just so she could spend more time streaming. A few days before her break, she noted that she was starting to lose her voice, and you could definitely hear it. I, as well as many others, were hoping she'd take a break or something soon before it got too bad, but on Saturday, she indicated on Twitter that she lost her voice, so she's been resting her voice since then. She's supposed to be back tomorrow. Hopefully it's been getting better, and hopefully, though doubtfully, she'll start taking more breaks to rest her voice.

Magazines only work for boomer shit, and even that's slowly dying out. The audience for vtubers will get their news and gossip and hot takes online for free, rather than wait for weeks for it to become stale and come out in a magazine that you have to pay for. Corpos are going to prefer to tease content online where everyone can see it, and they can take advantage of video and audio for content. At best, a vtubing magazine of any sort would be a one-off novelty collectible.

Cover could honestly make a random magazine featuring a bunch of self-shilling and people would buy it, specially if it contains plenty of nice art and/or special announcements.

Nice to see Shiina, Jelly, Skye, and Ami get some recognition.
I think those bitches have more recognition each than this whole pack 'o wannabe journos lol.
