I can't even defend her on this one, this is just a bad take. Nobody that I've seen is complaining that Amalee didn't work for her VTubing success (though compared to plenty of other talents she didn't...). People are complaining because Zentroon has been autistically screeching in a fit of HRT induced rage about how VHoeshow doesn't only nepohire. Now they've had applicants waiting to debut for what, a year? More? Meanwhile if you're friends with the right people you can just skip the line and join.
Well, maybe. Japanese courts will twist the written law to an absurd degree for the sake of preserving social harmony and allowing anything that's normally done to continue. But obviously you'd have to be pretty brave to rely on that.
The US does recognise pornography of fictional characters as parody and entitled to a fair use defense, there have been cases about it. Of course that only gives a limited amount of protection (you're only allowed to infringe copyright to the extent needed to "call up" the original, so you can't e.g. copy existing character artwork verbatim, you have to draw your own caricature).
Athletes don't do it directly in their athlete jobs, but a lot of them do put out gravure as part of more general talento work and there have been several going into JAV lately, so I wouldn't say it's so clear cut.

Amalee's apparantly been waiting just as long from comments I've seen. Wouldn't call it skipping the queue so much as multiple ways to approach them to join. Which is basically how Geega described it when the topic last came up, actually. You don't know who wants to join until they make it known and it can be vulgar to ask. Auditions catch the unexpected or offer an impersonal approach for those not comfortable approaching directly. We know Haruka got in by auditioning for example, despite already being pretty close with some of the girls, because she's talked about it a lot and even shown her audition tapes. On the other hand Snuffy was vshojo orbiter number 1 for a good while and when she auditioned to get in, she got refused. It's not a guarantee.
Pretty much. The original seethe comments about nepo hiring were typed by brown hands who don't really understand what nepotism is or in what circumstances it's bad. The whole entertainment industry runs on networking, always has and always will, because personalities being able to work together are what's important - and since they've mostly took on people who already had an audience, they're already qualified for the job by definition so there isn't the usual critique of incompetence being covered by family/relationship connections.
Vshojo's retirees aren't any worse than Phase Invaders or any of the other corps that have took on talents because they were already established/reincarnating/the word of one of their already existing talents. It's just funny because Zen is menhara and actually swallowed the bait.

I think plenty understand how VSJ just plays it too safe but the things people keep ribbing at is their constant LARP as being better than the others while not taking any of the risks from being as "free" as they advertise. And overall reaping benefits that no other corpo is capable of having (i.e twitch connections up the ass and the bubble girl buff). The fact that sometimes their own people or random fans bite the bait is hilarious too.

I mean, some people were actually angry about them only recruiting their friends still, but that is because they did the auditions the first time. I think shedding some of the shittier members in 2023 helped their image enough that people could have stopped caring about the first set auditions, given enough time.
Doing another set was a bad idea, especially when they are still picking up their friends. Again, I have a hard time feeling bad for them, though, since this is the community they fostered by putting down others and virtue signaling how great they were instead of minding their own business.
