There was an awesome game back in the day called Puzzle Quest (which itself was a spinoff of the niche Warlords franchise but that's another weird topic) that came out during the Casual game explosion alongside Peggle. And instead of capitalizing on it the devs just decided mediocrity was the way to go.

And like Peggle people have been waiting to play Bejeweled but good. Alas Candy Crush wasn't taking over quite yet so we all settled with porn. Was it as good as Puzzle Quest? Hell no, but it came out at the right time for meme reasons.

Now I will say this about the art, it is almost impressive that the art got worse with layer installments. Game series is following the casual playback to a T. Except with porn

The art looks fine, if that's "lazy" then good on them for not choosing some fancy technical style that makes things look worse.
They were making it in America and reworked the characters to fit the voice actors they were able to get.
