🎊Check out the new Kamioshi Shrine thread! Shill YOUR kamioshi here! Win prizes!🎊
April is just around the corner, and I'd like to use this time to remind users to donate in support of the site. I am looking into purchasing more add-ons to streamline and enhance user experience, and I am also going to hire another VPS for additional backup space and other important purposes in April.
In addition: I am looking for users who would be interested in becoming Orderlies for the new vtuber threads. Responsibilities would include highlighting and properly collating information in each thread, and also maintaining the announcement widgets for each thread. Knowledge of basic HTML and CSS (very easily learned) essential. DM me your interest.
Finally, I'm looking for anyone with intermediate to advanced HTML/CSS/PHP knowledge to continue work on the forum styles. I am willing to pay for this service, but if I do, I expect commitment and results within a reasonable timeframe. DM me any offers. Thank you.
Brave also botted the shit out of the VSPO 3D debuts way back when. In that case it was live viewer bots. They had 80-100k live viewers in a chat that was the speed of a 2-8k viewer stream.
Is there any kind of record or relevant discussion of this from when it happened? I'm looking into this personally along with a few numbers autists and the circumstantial evidence is pretty damning. Stuff like channels whose owners stream maybe once or twice every fortnight consistently getting a hundred subs a day, etc. There's a lot of data there, just not all compiled into a proper orgy of evidence yet.
I really do feel like this alleged Brave botting situation is the start of something big, since YouTube are already aware of drive-by bot trolling - there's a reason the Hololive girls don't get in trouble whenever /#/ anons bot them to fuck around. The systems are able to recognise what's happening, and they'll usually recalculate the numbers quietly when the revenue gets tallied up at the start of the next month. If the Brave channels are getting flagged then they're probably not using the same shady Indian "get a gorillion YouTube views now!" sites the trolls typically use, and they might've flown a bit too close to the sun with whatever they're doing to systemically inflate their numbers recently.
It's also very interesting that they're using the public pressure approach to resolve it, since that could backfire horrifically if any hard evidence of foul play comes out. If it turns out someone in the company's fraudulently boosting the channels while others are none the wiser then this could be an absolutely spectacular shitshow.
That wouldn't work in this situation since it's the demonetisation is happening on a channel level (meaning the individual affected channels can't be linked to any AdSense account at all), rather than on the MCN level. All they can really do for the time being is move to Twitch and/or shill their StreamElements donations more than usual.
(At least so far) It looks like VSPO EN, which is in a separate subsidiary from Brave US, is not caught up in this wave of demonetization. I don't know if that's significant or not, but it doesn't seem to be affecting all of Brave.....

this is why I'm starting to think maybe is not viewbotting but maybe they were botting their memberships or something. Wouldn't memberships be a good way to launder money if people can pay with google cards or something?

Tbf tweeting publicly about it is seemingly the only way for content creators to get these issues resolved in a timely manner even when the fuck up is obviously on youtube's end.

YouTube's 30% cut's probably a bit too high to be practical for laundering really. If there's any financial fraud it'd be much easier to have bots generating fake ad clicks, but even then I'm not comfortable making that accusation without evidence.
What I do suspect they might be doing is boosting sub counts specifically to give their channels more presence - not so much for an algorithm boost since watch time and engagement metrics have much more influence on that than sub count, but to play into the "bigger number = bigger deal" side of human psychology. A streamer hitting subscriber milestones is celebrated in this industry; and if they hit big milestones much quicker than their contemporaries then they're going to catch people's eyes.

I figured out the solution. We place Lisa in a car alongside gura. We then tell them, from the outside, that they being together in that vehicle counts as a collab. After they finish, gura instantly graduates and vanishes off the face of the Earth.
