Virtux, a company that I long ago made a thread about in anticipation of them being a huge scam is, in fact, a huge scam. Very public meltdowns are happening on Twitter, archivists would be appreciated. Thread here || Murray's Infodump || Initial mention by Bronze.
I am going to do an end-of-year stream on the 30th of December. If anyone would like to make a nice thumbnail for it, DM me. I can pay in a free title, advertisement, or filthy lucre - though not immediately, as PayPal is a bitch. Thank you!
"Untrained", in spite of both Lumi and Clara being trained singers
If you want to keep splitting hairs, I'd like to present you a song by someone with a BA in musical theater and a career in off-Broadway musical plays:
Having training in singing does not necessarily make you a good singer, nor does lacking formal training in singing necessarily make you a bad singer!
IRyS is about to head back into Alien: Isolation, you already know what you're getting out of this if you've seen her play before, so get your drinks and snacks while you can because this is gonna be kino:
They can sing but a far as I'm aware they are untrained and it will take 2-3 years of constant practice for them to be trained if they are even interested.an untrained singer can sound nice but a trained singer like Lisa can sing for longer and outside her usual vocal range among many other benefit's.
and just to be perfectly clear Freddy Mercury arguably one of the best vocalists in the business had ZERO formal training so take everything i say with that fact in mind.
In the sense that they are untrained i had a whole post of context!
At the risk of sounding like an enormously pretentious fag, 99% of vtubers are going to be singing pop or pop-adjacent music. Yes training helps, but we're not looking for a Luciano Pavarotti... for the vast majority of content a VTuber will sing training is completely unnecessary to sound good or perform well. There are several VTubers out there who do have formal voice training but who I'd never listen to over, say a Lumi.

Yes but many of those pop adjacent songs especially the popular ones pull from other genre's remember "City Pop Shark" or how about Recently. Cali's doing a cover of Otonoke because she's can do both rapping and pop singing she's one of the few actually prepped for Otonoke to be on everyone's mind and whip out a quick cover while the interest is fresh.
also were all pretentious fags that throw our thoughts out onto the web with the assumption of being right your fine.

Doesn't matter, every genre require same general training if you want to be good. There are many insanely difficult pop songs and insanely technical pop singers. Just listen to Michael Jackson and try to repeat.
Classical training more often than not gonna fuck you up and give a lot of bad habits. As it turns out, if you want to be universal singer, it's better to learn correct falsechord screaming first, then learn literally everything else including hitting the pitch. Point is, you learn maximally relaxed safe fallback position (scream) before constrained ones (clean voice), which gives you more control and stamina. Also extends range and prevents you from falling too much into unhealthy falsetto.
