Sometime tomorrow, Matara will be releasing an official apology and revising the terms for her art contest of Vshojo members. Apparently internet artists raked her over the coals for not giving them enough time and not paying them enough to participate in her contest. She's updating the terms to give contest participants 6 weeks to draw instead of 4 and giving them a total prize pool of 8k instead of 5k. She cried about it last night and is still tempted to pull the plug on the contest, and no matter the outcome she will not do another one anytime soon. Vshojo management signed off on everything, so she was completely blindsided by the reactions from some twitter fags.

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. If you offer cash it loses the spirit of being a fun thing for fans, if you don't offer cash they all cry about how you're exploiting them and paying them in "exposure", as though their work being promoted on a popular livestream is somehow inherently taking advantage of them. Hell even if there's a generous cash prize they'll still complain about how you're just disguising spec work as a contest.

Because twitter as a whole has long since decided that "being paid in exposure" is a bad thing which anyone with a brain would ask "what kind and how much" first especially with sites like patreon where exposure literally translates to cash.

I think it's kind of impressive how Mouse can have so many models and have them all recognisably "her". You wouldn't mistake them once you knew her. Aside from a few, they're all pretty tightly wound up in her brand and in about 3 different base appearances.

it's all color and theme work. even in her more outlandish models she is still pink and purple and usually in the same spots with the same pattern.

To be honest, intermediate bots can play over aggressive and actually kill new players a lot because they dont care about farming or laning like normal.

What Ensok said. you don't have to be smart to get kills even some better players can still die to them because the bots all target and use their abilities with zero delay which basically means if you get in range you become instantly locked down and murdered by 7 abilities all hitting you at the same time.

i recently died to them 5 times in one match. and i killed them 40 times in the same match.

It's yet more manufactured discourse that gets repeated uncritically by people who won't take a moment to think through what they're saying.

Are there clients who swindle people into working for free by making vague promises about exposure that they then can't deliver on? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean every opportunity on offer is exploitative; becoming known for drawing artwork for streamers can genuinely help artists make a name for themselves, especially so if it's part of a heavily-promoted contest, and they win.

Everyone I've ever known who's worked in creative fields has done their fair share of unpaid work to get their foot in the door, it's a highly competitive industry and having a portfolio of work you've produced voluntarily as and when the opportunities have came along sets you apart from the amateurs who have no published work to their name.

Looking for input on a bit of a project I've started.

Since half the time I don't know who you're all talking about here, I thought about creating a graphical diagram kind of thing that shows vtuber reincarnations / past accounts where you can look up a name and quickly see who they are.

I've made a start with a few of the obvious / more recent ones. Would this be something people are interested in? I would absolutely be relying on the good(?) people here to supply me with names via direct message.

Things to note:

• Each vtuber card shows just the basics - name, picture, links to channels, twitter name and debut/graduation dates.
• The cards can contain extra information which is hidden in the overall view, and revealed by expanding the card. Select a card and then press the < > Expand button. I'm including things like nicknames, as well as personal/alt accounts.
• On that note, I'm not too keen on doing the whole doxxing thing, so I think I will limit it only to already well-known accounts.
• This also means that if a current vtuber has a past life Youtube channel but not in a vtuber form, they won't appear on the list.
• You can use Ctrl+F to search for stuff. This will include things that are included in the hidden additional info (example, searching "Michael Cat" will take you to Mikeneko's card)
• This has the potential to get very large and messy, but that's why we have the search function. You can also select lines to see where they lead.
• For some reason the grid that guests see is different to what I see in the editor, so things don't line up as nicely. Trying to fix this.
• Profile Images are temporay. Will make nicer more uniform looking ones later.

Motherfucker could've been like faketype making music for Korone or Kay making animations for MVs if he'd resisted the urge to farm some internet clout and moralfag points. The memories still make me smile to this day...
