If any of this content change is coming from the corpo they should really have made statement first to take some of the heat off of Yuko. I agree that removing existing content seems strange and unfair. Anyone interested will always be able to find what content was created, so what's the point? Plus you get a Streisand effect now where fans in the future will want to know what the big deal with the removed content is. Maybe there's some technical reason Idol doesn't want it on their channels, who knows.

It could maybe be a issue with youtube, I think a bit ago a Vtuber nearly got nuked off youtube because they had NSFW ASMR on their channel. Maybe Idol decided it was too much of a risk to keep it up so told their Talents it had to come down and they are just going about it in a sloppy way.

Going back to my earlier post about Yuko, I didn't realise there were still donothon goals outstanding, and if they get dropped then I'd agree that's not on, just on principle (at least without offering a refund for donors).

Deleting the existing membership stream vods isn't a practice I'm a fan of in general, but it's also not something I'd lose sleep over in this case, people who paid got to see the streams live as promised, and even if you frame it as a subscription service rather than a voluntary donation with a perk, it's not like it's uncommon for other streaming services to remove content after a period of time.

I had a feeling those streams would need removing eventually anyway, since I'm pretty sure simulating masturbation has to be against ToS, and I'm sure Idol's new buyers wouldn't care to have sitting duck rulebreaking videos on the channels just waiting to get flagged. Taking it down immediately isn't the best look, but leaving them up after the stream today would've opened the door for the spurned lovers to mass-report her on the way out.

Just something I have noticed - Hololive Japan has presumably reached the threshold of usefulness for keeping collabs "inside the box". While there have always been various levels of Niji/VSPO and indie collabs the majority has come from select members like Towa and Choco.
The timeline is Hololive gen 0-3ish collabs with anyone > gen 4-7 keep in the box to grow > Regloss let's collab lots and with a wide array of people.

it would have been better for her to Just do the donothon goals and then quietly move away from this content without saying anything. But instead she decides to make a big deal out of it and apparently they're nuking archives of it. so I can imagine the situation is going below up in her face.

Her saying she wants them to love her comes from her members' streams where she roleplayed as the listener's lover while using a plush to masturbate. A normal person (well, as normal as you can get as someone who pays for anime girl roleplay) would engage with it like they would with any other kind of pornography, understanding that it is fantasy and not a real relationship; if these people somehow convinced themselves that the ASMR equivalent of a jerk-off instruction video was her confessing her love to them then she's just separating fools from their money at that point.

I don't feel like producing that content is morally wrong, but I do think she should have been aware of how the wider vtuber community would react to it and the kind of problems it would bring her way. I would imagine the "burnout" that caused her hiatus was more just a sense of anxiety knowing that she was going to get shit from her audience for it, and I can respect that she's finally ripped off the band-aid now. Filtering out these kinds of people was a long time coming, and the fact that she's followed through on it shows she's committed to avoiding these problems in the future, so personally I wish her the best.

I didn't really watch yuko but I've been watching the dumpster fire. My main issue with it is, as a lot have already mentioned (and you too, just a few minutes ago), is removing paid content and also not delivering on donothon goals.

I'm also heavily split on the moral aspect of GFE. Sure, everybody should know it's not real. It already requires some dissonance to simply ignore that you are contending with hundreds of other viewers for your "e-gf"s attention to actually take it seriously. But there's also a decently sized chunk of viewers who are just lonely neckbeards. If you get too parasocial with a normal vtuber, it's your own fault, but GFE is basically preying on guys who are already trainwrecks from lack of emotional intimacy. Those kinds of people are more than willing to delude themselves into a fragment of intimacy, no matter how fake it is. It's a disgusting practice imo, and nobody should encourage it.

In the end, she's just reaping what she sowed, so I have little pity for it.
