It depends on how the talent talks about the model change. I think fans will accept if they change models for genuine reasons and are open and honest with their fans. For example, Lia transitioned to a very different-looking model, but she was candid about having difficulty with her original content style, and not enjoying her work. The vast majority of her fans were supportive, Lia is now making the content she wants to make, and the transition worked out really well for her.
Now, if Gura did something similar, being open with fans and using a significant model revamp to transition to new content styles, she might lose some no-no square posters, true. But I think a lot of her audience would just be happy if Gura was happy, especially if that meant Gura was actually streaming regularly again.

And vidya is hardly the only outlet for vtubers these days lol there are plenty of tubers who barely play games and still do fine, they just do skits or JC. I don't think it's the games she's "burnt out" from I think it's putting on the streamer persona and talking to thousands of people she views like we view Nolan. Like imagine if you had to pretend to like an audience of 10,000 Nolan_Crush profiles every night. That'd be a lot more exhausting than games.
I'm fine with that in Gura's case because I've never been a chumbud, but I don't want this to become a trend where EN vtubers view the ultimate goal as a climb to the top and away from their audiences.

Yeah I don't hate gura, I only ever really dislike the concept of people can be insanely popular and supported whether they're doing something or literally doing nothing, since I never liked the "participation prize" generation society shifted towards.

It's very weird and part of what caused Gura to become "sacred ground" when it came to doxxing, because people were digging so deep to pull up Kid/early teen pictures and family photos rather than who she currently is.
It's kind of always been this way lately just to varying degrees. Gura is just the latest big and well known EN to make it blatant. It's why /vt/ rrats aside, I can somewhat agree with major EN Vtubers being on the somewhat lazy side in the sense they literally have to do nothing and will be showered in attention and money, but tiny indies that does this get shoved into "Vtweeter" or "Worthless, no point in supporting them" piles lol.
