I don't know, for an industry that uses so much art, and for being the second-largest corpo, was it really that hard to commission someone to draw some teaser art? I bet Hololive doesn't use stock art, even for teaser stuff.

Get a cheap stock background, you have hundreds of thousands of them at a short cost because Japan was an art powerhouse for decades, so many people doing VN backgrounds during the 2005-2015 boom.

I disagree, it's an entirely manufactured controversy, and the best way to deal with it is to just power on until using generative AI becomes standard practice across the board. People eventually stopped caring about record machines, CGI, autotune etc., and they'll eventually stop caring about AI.

You look at tools like NovelAI that scrape entire boorus for their machine learning system to comb through and it feels absurd to suggest someone deserves attribution and compensation for contributing one-zillionth of the reference material.

If they missed a melting AI background then their oft talked about "We need to consult the rules" or "We need to consider how X will look" process is all just for show.
