I don't know if there's a specific term for it, but with aircraft they were just considered a kind of nose art, albeit one with a large presence.

I don't think it has an official name since it's all generally grouped under propaganda but i have heard "Patriot Art" used before and it seems to be the unofficial name.

which is a shame because some of it is legitimately good a lot of it is very funny and when your playing something like lancer having a "decal" folder of such things is a great way to give your mech/vehicle stand out features without needing 5 weeks of bugging the gm to read your description.
