Here are a few highlights from the Lia / Pomu collab so far:

Lia is currently at 1,900 viewers (and slowly climbing) which I think is a record for Lia.
There's some good chemistry between Lia and Pomu - they both have similar interests regarding idols, they're both are deep into idol culture, they're both laughing at the same things, and there's no awkward silences or anything like that.

It's a pretty good stream. I'd definitely check these two out again.

I cannot imagine what Lia must be thinking right now. Less than a year ago she was thinking about giving up and now she gets to collab with one of her favorite vtubers in less than a half hour.

Hopefully she can keep the brainworms under control.

She's been working really hard this last year and has had a lot of great things happen to her, and she deserves it. I hope things keep going well for her. She's also now slightly under 15k until becoming the fourth Phase member to hit the big 100k. I'm really happy for her.

With all the recent talks about our favorite , it reminded me to check-in on a vtuber that does good metal stuff that isn't a : Patra.

Somehow, I missed her guitar stream almost two weeks ago where she did a Summer festival of her playing guitar and singing. Currently watching the Lia + Pomu collab, so I haven't watched the whole stream yet, but will after this. I don't think anyone mentioned it back when she did it, but I wanted to mention it now because I listened to some of the songs, and it's awesome. She has a pretty solid line-up of songs that include covers from Pantera, Megadeth, Metallica, Exodus, etc. She doesn't sing every song, but she does for many, and it's great.

As I don't speak Japanese, I don't know the context behind much with her. Watching some of her previous guitar streams, I noticed she plays some of the same songs often, so I assumed she was practicing these songs on stream and trying to get better at playing them, but I could be wrong. However, if this is the case, you can tell in this Summer festival, she's definitely improved on these songs and has them down pretty damn good.

I know many of us lament that there aren't many vtubers within the English speaking side of vtubing involved in metal, and that the most prominent one is a , but at least there's Patra on the Japanese side, and her guitar streams are probably the best "metal" content in vtubing. But enough of my own sperging, here's the stream:

Their respective chats are quite similar too when it comes to bullying them (by showering them money coupled with certain comments). Actually looking forward to it just for the memes and potential legendary clips it could produce.

Plus Scarle's probably in the same cosplay circle as Lia and probably had interactions with each other in cons before.
They live quite close to each other as well. I think Lia's just in the state beside Scarle's.

I saw that and almost posted it when there were talks about Nijisanji's China affiliate, but ultimately didn't really give a shit. Just China doing China things.

End of the day this is the one thing about Vtuber/Irl separation that has some people confused, for example people think/feel Irys/namirin wouldn't be the type to sell feet pics or nudes or whatever because of how she successfully plays her character on stream, yet it's similar to how people think Elira is some untouched pure virgin that scoffs at the idea of sex just because it's how she comes off on stream. What's that old saying? "Never meet your heroes"? Most actors aren't the same IRL, hell Bruce Willis seems like a chill/cool person to hang around yet everyone in hollywood has said what a shitstain he is off screen.

At the same time, comparing streamers to actors is kinda weird. Not every streamer is the same, and for a lot of people acting or lying about who you are that much would be exhausting and difficult to be consistent with. In terms of VTubers, some will put up more a persona such as FuwaMoco, some just drop whatever debut persona they have after they get comfortable streaming more like Bae, and some don't even bother with a persona to begin with or only use one for a very short time before saying "fuck it".

Obviously, there are going to be things they don't tell people or character traits they hide, but that isn't any different when interacting with normal people in real life, anyway. The most likely scenario, at least for big corpo VTubers, is a lot of them hold back saying stuff or making jokes they would normally say offstream or as an indie because it is too unhinged or offensive when you are repping a company.

We saw that with Randon/Vesper, in that he behaved pretty much how everyone expected he would, which was a much more exagerated and bombastic version of Vesper. IRyS/Namirin is similar in she definitely is more casual in her Namirin streams, and will generally be more likely to sarcasticly respond to a chatter or curse in general, while she usually only does such things when she gets frustrated with a game as IRyS.

Tl;dr: how much a streamer shares or plays up their personalities will widely depend on the person, and defaulting to "everything you see is a total lie or an act" is kind of silly. Most will tell as much of the truth as they can simply because it is easier to manage.

I may be ignorant, but I thought those massage guns were explicitly BAD at what you guys are assuming because of the reciprocal motion they do. Color me wrong if I am though.

I've meant to look into the massage gun stuff. It's gotten super trendy in the Fitness space, which usually means it's bad for you. And, yeah, the secondary utility of the devices is also a question because massage machines were actually first used for exactly that. No joke. Though rich women in New York getting water blasted is a whole thing from the 1910s.

I know someone who got a massage gun like that a couple years ago. No idea how effective it actually is, but apparently you have to avoid using it on areas where the bone is close to the skin because it's powerful enough to be painful.

I didn't know any Vtubers were doing top line shredding over tracks. That's wild. Also, that guitar she has is rather expensive.

The thought of some random Japanese Woman in her apartment doing the an anime voice while shredding over Metallic is, however, quite hilarious. Solid English singing chops as well.
