Probably not. Anyone who's read or watched Frieren already knows that Demons are inherently malicious in nature and no matter what diplomatic approach they take, Demons resort to violence in the end.

Ehh, unless he just read a wiki or something him bringing up the predator vs prey aspect makes me think he must've at least watched the episodes containing the first demon arc (I know everyone loves her but I can't remember her name). But later he says

I view Frieren as a fascinating story about how a predatory/prey dynamic ultimately plays out when both predator and prey are sapient species with free will and moral agency.

SO maybe not, since demons are relatively a small part of the Frieren story.

People really debate this shit? There is nothing to debate. The author makes it totally clear that the demons in the series are incapable of human emotions and empathy. They are essentially sentient beasts that feed on humans and nothing else. It isn't that deep.
