That's like a couple of cryptic lines every so often that don't mean anything and don't affect the story whatsoever.

I think it's a lot more blatant in the manga or maybe the show than the light novel. The gods (players) are out right shown as shadowy figures rolling the die in a couple scenes. The one I most remember is the saving throw in the fight against the ogre(?). Hell, Goblin Slayer is just shown as a player piece at one point too.

same difference?
well the more you push through the first game the more they make him sound like enemy number one of the whole country because they pinned the death of his DEA friend on him.
and the more reports they make about him getting chased by the cops which means they also blame him for every other cop getting killed.
and to top it all off the ones from the government that want him dead keep pushing for him getting killed/captured by the cops, and since he was undercover working for the mafia many don't know he's still a cop making it so there's more eyes on him when he kills an entire skyscraper worth of government workers and a somewhat important lady.
it's all about how you present the story and the protagonist :BijouBijou:

Yeah but what does it have to do with anything? It's just the author going "wooooooooaaaaaooooo isn't it crazy guys that the world is controlled by gods and sheit and they play the autismo board gayems like us?!?!"
It's completely accessory, what's the point?

I will say, if you have to experience it in any way, at least read the manga over the other formats it is in. The art carries it hard.

The art carries A LOT of manga hard, that is why I always start with LN if avaliable.
Idk man. Tons of light novel manga adaptions have absolute trash art.

Again, it's been a while since I've touched it so I may be off but I do recall the author trying to bee kind of deep with it and going on about how the circumstances of the world are controlled by a single roll of the die, but I also remember rolling my eyes when I read that. I don't think it needs to have a point other than being an accessory, just flavor to fill out the world they're in. Granted, that comes off as really weird when they're in a world within a world. It originally felt like this (and the actual main hero girl whose "name" I've forgotten) was supposed to build up to something, but I couldn't tell if the author knew what that even was.

Anyway, it's not bad to have those accessories to a story, I think. Even if it's not very good.

This was why I didn't finish the show. Seeing the art go from this to Goblin slayer being CGI man made me feel like I was wasting my time.

I am in the camp of "Every part of a story should contribute something" but whatever, I have come to accept that everyone knows that trash is trash and sometimes the whole point is being trash, despite how asinine that sounds.

I don't completely disagree. I think a problem is a lot of writers thing they're adding garnish, when they're just making dropped plot points or creating story elements that are more interesting than what they're giving us instead (See: Paru Itagaki). Sometimes though you just have a bad day and want to turn your brain off with some garbage. Like with Warriors games. Somedays it's just nice to hit the XXX and the YYY and kill 300 guys at once for a good 40 minutes or so.

Games are fine, because games can be anything, the point of the game is almost always to win or to complete some objective. But stories, and by extension story-telling mediums, are all about the plot, the characters and the world, and the connections between all three which develop themes, ideas and philosophical quandaries.

I believe you read too much legal documents, you grew to need the text to contribute to text to contribute to more text.

A lot of legal documents are utterly pointless I'm afraid, mostly stating what has already been stated or by all human-level logic need not be stated. I like reading because I was taught to do so from a young age, I don't particularly like staring at cryptic language in a contract whose whole purpose is to fuck people who are too stupid to discern its contents up.

People really debate this shit? There is nothing to debate. The author makes it totally clear that the demons in the series are incapable of human emotions and empathy. They are essentially sentient beasts that feed on humans and nothing else. It isn't that deep.
People that want to justify fucking demons for some reason. They're weird anyway, first because it's just a drawing, and second that Aura would be categorized as zoophilia.

I thought the serie's big reveal was that goblins are aliens or whatever the fuck.

Unless the author says otherwise, I don't think they're literal gods, I think they're just regular people playing Dee an' Dee, but in the context of the story, to the NPCs, the Players and DM are gods, since they're figments of our imagination and shit.

I need to see if the author stopped wanking it with the spinoffs and prequel shit.

So much debate over such a NOTHING anime lol. Frieren is just a cute little story that looks pretty and makes you feel things for once in your life and little else. People should focus on series with actual themes of oppression like 86 (ignore how melodramatic it can be sometimes) if they wanna debate morality and humanism.
but good shows don't attract the normies who need a ruler and a GPS to find their own asshole.
Doesn't the light novel also have a thing that the series is actually a game of D&D being played by the Gods of the world or some shit?
yeah it's pretty heavy "names" are just classes or more specifically jobs (Farm Girl is as valid a name as Rookie or Lancer). the adventurer registration in the guild is a 5th Edition Sheet. The Gods play dice.

The real question is how deep does this shit go? are the gods actual gods or just two children playing a game without realizing the hell they made. Theres a few hints here and there that something bigger might be going on but the author seems to be playing it real close to the chest.

Pathologic prolly did it better tho.
