Ehh, unless he just read a wiki or something him bringing up the predator vs prey aspect makes me think he must've at least watched the episodes containing the first demon arc (I know everyone loves her but I can't remember her name). But later he says

People really debate this shit? There is nothing to debate. The author makes it totally clear that the demons in the series are incapable of human emotions and empathy. They are essentially sentient beasts that feed on humans and nothing else. It isn't that deep.
