For other cons, Phase did have a decent presence at Holiday Matsuri in Orlando in December last year. They had a booth where they sold merch, had meet and greets with some of the girls, and did an exclusive show there (it was just Remi, Airi, and Uruka playing Jeopardy, but there was some crowd interaction). The issue with that con is it's more general anime/nerd focused, and I think Fishman knows they get more recognition and merch sales at a con that's only about vtubers like Offkai. It's up to him if he thinks the bullshit dealt with is worth spending his money to get the company's name out more.

Also. (for those who don't know, Sensoka is an extremely skilled and very based 3D craftsman, hugely recommend his work.)
I would drop between 500-1000$ (excluding tickets/travel/etc) on a con startup that pledged to be as even-handed and politically neutral as possible (actual neutrality, as in 'if it's not illegal it can come', not fake 'it's okay if you can say it on bluesky without being banned' neutrality) and had transparency regarding its members and roles. I'd also fundraise for it and promote it to the best of my abilities. I think that others probably would as well.
I know it's an enormous responsibility and that's why most people don't get into the business, but I remember CoxCon was essentially just a random startup con in Telford that got popular before Covid killed it, and that had numbers at least comparable to Vexpo. I just want somewhere I can go to without having to worry about nonsense that shouldn't occupy more than 5% of your brainpower at any given time outside of serious occasions. Is that so much to ask?

Any and all vtuber cons in the US are gonna be pozzed, it's always gonna be a bunch of fat fucking weebs, pedos and troons getting together to drop acid and have orgies in the hotel rooms. The EN market is so unstable either way that I think we're better off just sticking to being a sideshow at twitcon (for the vshojo circlejerk and big indies) and other anime cons for corpos.
10-12 hours drive (one way) depending on what niggles I encounter. That's not travel, I guess.

It's got a population of about 40 million (not counting the 20 million illegals in that state alone), is the most populous state in the US (the third most populous country in the world), third largest state in the US by landmass, and, if its own country, the fifth-largest GDP in the world.
If California is "in the middle of nowhere," then any country in the world is "in the middle of nowhere." For tech and (co-opted) culture, California doesn't need to rely on others - it has the personnel to operate just fine on its own, unlike most other places in the world.
It was that long when I LIVED IN California, so yeah..
My larger point is that no matter where it is, it's always an immense pain in the ass for tons of people, so complaining is some goofball shit. Fuck, I'd fly to Texas for it (very central in the US) so I could see family as well.

1) Volunteering isn't giving them money.
2) That was before we got confirmation that it wasn't merely staff members being bullied by lunatics threatening to withhold vital infrastructure if their demands weren't met. Now we know the rot goes too deep for volunteers to affect it.

Regardless of any potential interference by some individual fags, Phase is easily one of the biggest draws to Offkai, so participating in it probably still has some benefits for them. But with all this actual, concrete info out there and actually being spread around, any bit of "scuff" is going to be scrutinized and complaints will be made by the actual fans. I've already seen people asking about where to send in complaints with this new stuff.
So I guess we'll see what happens.
