2023 - Phase is a sponsor, not for the vendor hall but for the event in general. As far as I know they also already had a concert in this one, which won't have been free.
2024 - Phase is a sponsor for the vendor hall, third on the list only below V4Mirai and Idol. They also had a concert spot again, which won't have been free.
2025 - Phase is once again a sponsor for the vendor hall, they are first on the list. These sponsor lists are not arbitrary and the one who pays the most gets to be on top.
And then you have the guy telling you that Offkai wouldn't have been able to stay around without Phase. They're paying.
Edit: 2022 didn't have a sponsor page, but Phase guests are featured 3rd and they had more guests than anyone else. And I guess this was the year where they essentially paid for Pippa to come against the wishes of the organisers? So they paid for Offkai since the start pretty much.

Anaheim Convention center actually has the ability to host a large convention, with a couple of airports that are in a reasonable distance.
Also, despite being in Commiefornia and hosting Disneyland, Orange County is significantly less pozzed than the rest of the state.
Edit: Las Vegas could also have good access and space, but Vegas may have the same issues with the kind of people who would be able to run it.
But Vtubing is also mainly made up of smaller vendors and indies. You can't just have a con in the middle of bumfuck nowhere that's impossible to get to, or one that has a stupidly small space for Artist Alley tables. A new vtuber con would need to be in a venue that's easy for smaller artists and vendors to get to, and allow them to set up. And have decent wifi for meet and greets/roaming events. Which means you're looking at large cities, and most of the people who run cons in those areas are just as bad as Offkai's staff.

California is out in the middle of nowhere, you only get Californians to show up which I guess with the low numbers is sufficient. If you want reach it would have to be on the East Coast. But then again Vtubing is an extreme niche over in the West so it wouldn't make sense $$$ wise.

He fired yuri for breaching hers and I vaguely remember him saying he settled with the dude who scammed them with the plushies. If the offkai contract theory is true he should be running this by a lawyer to see if there's something that can be done there. Like I said in the other thread, they're probably doing the bare minimum just to fulfill their obligations and move on somewhere else.
If he still putting money on that con just as an advertisement he's being retarded because even if they don't have events at this point is very obvious the people running it will fuck with them and shield themselves with "oh geez sowy we're incompetent". I know running a con isn't child's play but for the money he's investing in it he could partner with someone who wants to get a con off the ground and go all in, plenty of people complain a lot about the con being in a shithole like cali, there's gotta be somewhere else you can have a small con in the damn us, right?
Plenty of A-cons across the US but the issue is that Offkai targets the vtuber niche while most will focus on general anime bullshitery, which is the only real thing that makes Offkai special and why people look at it as an opportunity. Do I have to pull out a map and demonstrate how far it is away from the rest of the US and how much desert and fucking nothing there is in the states East of it like Nevada, Wyoming, Utah. The feasible thing to do would be to fly there but you'd really want to go. If you had a con in Philly, Jersey or whatever you have many states from as West as Illinois or as South of Florida to access.

From a locational aspect, you either want to do a convention in LA, San Fran, major Texas City, Chicago or Atlanta. Atlanta makes a lot more sense because if people are flying, it's the easiest one to get to.
