According to mechanics that replied, the most reliable of sources. It was fatigue failure from too-low tire pressure. The sidewall got folded/unfolded with every rotation of the tires instead of staying straight. Several thousand bends every time she drives, maintained for presumably however long the tires were on there lead to inevitable fatigue damage.

She likely ignored the tire pressure warnings. Or got told by tiktok/social media that low tire pressure extends life or something stupid like that. Only situation I can recall where you'd intentionally deflate your tires is for driving on sand to get more grip.
