I know several Nijis do regular jobs on the side, and I guess VTubing as a whole lends itself to being a side hustle since most indies do it for little to no pay at all.
Unless you're at the tippy top of the VTubing sphere, doing events and promotions all the time, you're probably going to have enough time to fit in a flexible part time job.

Altare mentioned during Wilds that he picked up a part-time job during hiatus to get himself out of the house IIRC. Gook boy's also been a depressive fuck prior to Stars. According to him, he also won't be in anything prior to April.

Game has ~1.5 years worth of archived events to play through of it's 2 years running. New event every two-three weeks with enough content for 2-4 hours, possibly more depending on yapping levels. Plus it has 36 main chapters where a good chunk of said chapters can each take 3-6 hours to get through, depending on yapping levels, team power level, etc.

It's serviceable imho, it's not something so good you'll regret never experiencing it, but it's enjoyable enough I don't feel like I'm wasting time with it instead of playing/watching something else. Based on what I've seen of your posts about various media I don't think you'd care for it, but I could be wrong.

Moona said her income is like a waitress part-time in Japan. I don't think StarsEN are making much more money than that, probs even less.
Being a vtuber has its perks though. Since you don't go out of the house and have no friends, you have a lot less to spend than a normal worker.
Even more so if you have a basement spot in your parents house and cook your own food. Like you won't die and starve but you aren't wealthy either.

genshin story isn't even long, it is just a huge sandbox so it eats alot of time just walking.
