Hogwarts was apparently quite stable. Go figure.
No, it wasn't. I'm not sure if they've finally fixed it but there were massive performance issues on release. Kobo has a great clip about it too.

Major? I hope it's sarcasm :pippasadl:
of course it's sarcasm.
I don't know what the end goal is for this studio, but they haven't shown anything that might make a fun game.

You cited pokemon as an example the game is FUCTIONS as a pokemon game (also Scarlet and Violet were mostly functional as opposed to sword and shield being broken for like half a year or more) you still catch critters you still have the same battle mechanics as much as i would have loved for GAMEFREAK to fucking address the terrible ass game they made no one actually cares becasue it sold like hotcakes

Generation 8 (Sword and shield) sold almost as much as Red Blue Green did combined because all the bitching got people interested in the game again and actually enjoyed it because it's still pokemon.
Scarlet and Violet had massive performance issues. I know someone who is so much of a pokemon fan that they buy both versions every generation, collect pokemon cards, and still regularly play pokemon go for fuck's sake, but they stopped playing Scarlet and Violet with great regret because of the performance issues they experienced.

This whole year in gaming has just been non-stop copium from everyone. This year has been nothing but tremendously buggy games. It's like every game dev decided to not hire QA teams. There's a lot of good games this year but they're all so fucked.

And every retard is saying that "2023 was probably the best year for videogames, ever".

Fellas, my advice to you is simply to stop reading from the shill front (so all of the paid ad media and their useful idiots over at reddit) and take your pick from the near boundless stream of games available. Triple-A is on its agonical death throes while spluttering foetid pus all over the walls, and I couldn't care less. EDF 6 is finally coming over, too late for me though. They're releasing star ocean 2 on ps4 in a few days, and also the Suikoden 1+2 thingie that came out on psp is coming out next year in english.

People will still find a way to cope this away and blame Sony, even after years of Bungie becoming WORSE after breaking with Activision.

Thread about the art director who was with bungie since 1999 and a VA in Halo 1 also being fired, along with more people in the replies.

edit:
Bungie missed revenue projections by 45% for this year. It is beyond light over.

I keep asking this but what Performance Issues? this is the thing I see everyone say but it seems to only affect people who already want to complain about nintendo.

Ive had maybe TWO cases of slowdown and it was temporary and probably caused by my old system throwing a fit Amusingly both cases were in some of the smaller games (Harvestellia Starwars Republic Commando) Rather then something like Tears of the Kingdom. Which makes sense to me since one is a Squeenix Bloatjob and the other is a port.

And just to stop myself from coming off as a braindead who thinks nintendo can do no wrong.

Stop Neglecting your older staple series just because you cannot use them to reinvent the wheel (Pokemon Coliseum F-Zero Starfox Kid Icarus

in a Similar Vein they need to stop reinventing the wheel with every game you are allowed to refine a mechanic you fucks completely new slate powers in zelda and zeldas long history of only having a handful of recurring items (arrows bombs hammer boomerang) which work different every game

Lack of experimentation outside of gameplay mechanics as well ispite the artstyle distinction between different series theres little to no actual deviation from what im just gonna sum up as "the nintendo artstyle" Mario and Kirby look fine next to eachother even someone more realistic like Link and Zelda look fine.

I would kill for some visual variety but thankfully i can just shove in a copy of Civ or Triangle strategy and reset my eyes.

So I did some digging and I found out what prompted Capcom to do this. For a SF6 tournament, the host forgot to turn off his nude Chun-Li mod

[a]

I havent been able to confirm it myself byt ive heard chinese whispers that the face-models for the RE characters have been getting wierded out by the porn mods too

All this talk about the releases this year just reminded me that my favorite release was a Quake 2 expansion pack.

...yes I did play BG3. No I did not beat it yet. It's more impressive to me as an engine that should be used for future DND games.

So yeah my favorite game of the year is just a level pack for a game from 1997

Robocop: Rogue City early access (and pirated release) is out, and apparently the game is great. Not really surprised considering how weirdly good Terminator: Resistance was. Bonus joy because a couple game journo sites are really assmad that the cops are portrayed positively in that game.

Current Year bullshit should definitely apply to fictional characters in a fictional setting of a fictional place of a fictional version of a country some people think does not exist.

Detroit is not real it can't hurt me.

saw this in the farms thread and figured it should be posted here for any who might still have hope about this game.

Don't you know, Robocop is a deeply political film about police ineptitude and corruption? Wait, what, it's about corporate overreach and what makes a person really human?

Meh ill hold out all of that is surface level bullshit the best parts of bloodlines 1 were the incidental things. Phyre is a really really really really fucking stupid name your vampire protagonist is literally named (vam)PHYRE you are breaching the masquerade sir.

Lame excuse for why your vampire is extra special and has a man in their head is lame but not a real reflection on the game on it's own.yes ive seen the other trailers I agree about the game being mid overall from what we have seen.

Still holding out hope that they remember The Tender ARG or at least what they had done for it is still shoved into the game somewhere.

I mean it's both but anyone who thinks the reboot has any leg's to stand on must have missed the memo.

at this pace the only game free from bugs and performance issues is Modern Warfare 3 because everything else has just been a circus (I tried the beta and it was hella fun). Quite the irony

It was Bungie that recently did the massive virtue signaling displays and got roasted. The Signaling happens after the rot has set in as an attempt to cover up the issues. Companies go broke first, then the woke takes over. Though they're going broke significantly because the infection has already set in.

2007 was also a massive year in gaming, which hit right as the global economy was cracking. It's simply the same this year. Economies are about to go pop in a bunch of places, so Games reflecting Peak Periods isn't surprising. They were green lit when things were going well and there is a Higher Investment = Higher Return effect in gaming, so the better funded games get pushed out the doors when execs feel things aren't looking good.

People will still find a way to cope this away and blame Sony, even after years of Bungie becoming WORSE after breaking with Activision.

Lightfall ended up being aptly named, lol.

Also, it very much looks like they canned people mostly on economic terms. They cut a lot of really expensive staff.

Don't you know, Robocop is a deeply political film about police ineptitude and corruption? Wait, what, it's about corporate overreach and what makes a person really human?

Robocop is just an amazing film, it's also still funny that so much of the production staff wasn't American but really gets the American approach to solving issues.

Little did we know, it could get a whole lot worse.

If they removed 8% of their workforce and it was around 100 people, how is a studio that big? The major COD studios aren't that big. There's a lot of questions that need to be asked.

When the execs are too busy in-fighting for survival, production staffs can actually work pretty well. Because bad management is regularly the biggest issues for productions like this.
