I have to strongly disagree on it being fair. If I am going to compare it to something like Nikke or Snowbreak (it's closer to Snowbreak), here are my issues.

So like Nikke with the banners it's not a guarantee that you will get it in X pulls. However Nikke has a general pull percentage that xan you get a SSR at any time with a higher percentage going towards the banner. With Girls Frontline 2 you have essentially a card pull that resets immediately after you pull a SSR. So with a limited character you are competing not just with the general always available SSRs but also Weapons. Yes 80 pulls will guarantee me something, but in my experience on 5 (or 6?) rounds of 80 pulls i have netted one Suomi out of the three banners. On the generic one that was suppose to be for the characters on 3 passes I got 2 guns and a character that I pulled when going for Suomi.

Now comparing it to Snowbreak which also mixes guns in the banners it has two tiers. One is 80 pulls with a 50/50 chance of getting the banner character while the other is 100 pull pool with a 100% chance. And from my experience it is truly random. On 93 I got Katya on her banner while on my 33rd pull I got Bubu. So it is up to chance but you are guaranteed the character. You simply do not know with Girls Frontline 2, which I guess is to promote buying tickets but why would I buy tickets if I have no clue what I am possibly going to get?

I cut it slack due to the sheer amount of currency up for grabs,, between guild stuff and just playing. i get a 10 pull with minimal effort more then one per day.

maybe fair was the wrong word but i have seen way worse.

No wonder I was starting to struggle a bit with some of the areas in Hollow Knight. I still had the basic nail, because I forgot to go back and upgrade it. Thank God I decided to look up what Pale Ore.

Edit: I died against Nosk and then decided to check out his wiki page. After seeing that he was an optional boss and the reward for beating him is a piece of Pale Ore, I looked up what it's used for.

Nosk has 680 health and the basic nail does 5 damage. That's 136 hits needed to beat him. My upgraded nail only needs 53 hits. 35 if I use the Fragile Strength charm.

Don't play any of the Mihoyo games cause it's the same system as GFL2 just with less pulls.

I try as hard as I can to recommend these games to chuubas over the years as a Mario Party alternative, the hard part is getting them to acknowledge it in the first place, especially with 100% Orange Juice being cheaper, hopefully it works this time around! Maybe! Put it in the "Retro" tag while streaming, if chuubas need an excuse to play it!

I have read GFL2 is getting an update next month where you can select which character to rate up in the standard banner.

There is no exact date but its pretty much like what the CN server (which is way further than Global right now) have with their standard banner. It doesn't really change the fact that the system is more or less shit (I'm skipping Daiyan after burning it all on getting Suomi and Makiatto with both times failing the 50/50 checks), but its, well, something to help.

EDIT: It also didn't help that if you want a weapon tied to specific doll that isn't standard (Suomi's SMG, Makiatto's sniper rifle, etc), they still wont put it on the standard banner and even on CN they only added one doll (Faye, Handgun t-doll with scope-mounted axe) and its respective gun, which means that if you didn't bother or don't have resources to pull on both, you're shit outta luck!

EA App is fucking worse too, they finally got Origin in a state of "it works most of the time" before replacing it. I've had nothing but problems with the EA App, thankfully all their new games are shit so I haven't had to use it too much.
