which is a shame shes fun.
She really is, the core idea of the dodge tank is great and feels really rewarding when you get to pull it off. The problem is that she has practically zero damage early, especially without Fandom levels. Zero fandom Zeta is almost unplayable on harder levels because it takes you till level five minimum to get the modest damage boost and crit boost her skills give. Even with full Fandom you have to rush your first collab, almost at the expense of healing/defense/speed, or else you get hard gated the second an enemy healer shows up because she can't kill them natively. The cooldowns on her cloak abilities are so long you can't reliably dive high value targets with them either, it's even odds that you need it 15 seconds later and get blown away.

Tbh it does make for more engaging gameplay overall though. Most characters are incredibly strong by comparison to Zeta so it's a great feeling to finish your build and dance through hordes of enemies untouched. I'd honestly bet she's one of the better characters for Hardcore because of her core survivability, but I haven't really felt like opening that can of worms yet.

This is why I just cross my fingers and pray for Early Shackles, just to pile up asacoco, membership and gorilla paw when they show up.
Actually I don't think Zeta is a no-crit character, is she? I need to fire up this game again and check.

Thoughts on Path of Exile 2 after about half of act 2: man it's fun to read PoE subreddit cry about this one.
Also man it's fun to actually care about every single upgrade during the campaign, rather than just go "yeah k" while rushing through it.
Game's definitely way different than PoE is, but for now i'm enjoying it tremendously.

Makes me feel like I'm playing a deeper Diablo 1/2 (Diablo 1 mainly, with how scarce good loot can be) which is exactly what I wanted. Gear actually mattering beyond finding res/armor in the campaign is really nice. I've missed the feeling of needing to pay attention when playing an ARPG like this. So far GGG has knocked it out of the park, and it makes me genuinely happy to see people seething about the difficulty. I knew they would, and it's been very funny.

Yeah, this was what people slowly figured out when Classic WoW came out. A lot of people that only played retail claimed that Classic would be boring with a lot of gear sucking. Then they slowly leveled up and got their first set of shoulderpads and went "oh, I get it now. This feels great."

Fuck Reddit autists. The game is genuinely amazing so far and probably the most well-made Exile-like in the past 25 years. If they wanna spam a single ability for 500 hours per league, they can play POE1 still.

When's the actual release? I might give PoE2 a try, since everyone is singing its praise.

If the previous game is anything to go on, it won't be out til Summer at the earliest. Buying basic early access gets you $30 dollars if in game currency, and many consider the price admission to the game the premium stash tabs. So it's something you'd want to eventually get anyways.

Does the premium stash tabs matter if I'm more of a play the campaign once and done kind of person?

No, it'd be more for the "sweaty ARPG endgame grinding" type player. But if that's the case, don't bother. The full campaign isnt in early access right now.

Zeta needs crits to trigger her AOE for mob control out of cloak and trigger her bonus XP skill. It's part of why she has issues with damage, item slots are very tight on her kit because her base crits are terrible for a crit character and you need items to compensate. Sake + Glasses + Soda is really tight on space when you NEED speed, defense, and healing for late Hardmode levels, especially since Idol Costume makes her so much more consistent that it's almost a must pick as well. If you want to reach 100% crit on her without losing a stamp slot you have to use Uber Sheep for the extra Sake boost too. :painpeko:

I wish them all the best, the game isn't for me but all my friends are having a blast. I also saw Reddit whining about the game and a lot of soulsbabies crying about getting filtered by white mobs, and to that I can only say: grow up because games were always supposed to be like this.

I was mostly playing Marvel Rivals this weekend and besides being a NetEase game, it's really well conceptualized. It needs a lot of polish, mainly on the feedback (recoil, screen shake, recovery) of the gunplay and perhaps a better FoV considering how much happens in the game and the verticality of many teamfights (Spiderman and Ironman are super annoying to deal with).
I think the game has a future, it is fun and the combos are impactful enough to maintain a deep layer of strategy, but they need to thread very carefully through player feedback to not make another boring hero shooter without any weight on skill and knowledge that ends being worse than the original.

To summarize this weekend:

You don't need to pretend you didn't enjoy the first year of Overwatch, it was a great game.

To keep my autism on topic am I the only one bothered by them using the wrong names for the heroes in favor of the more popular identity?

Iron Fist is not Iron Fist that's Swordmaster who took up the mantle (which technically means Two Agents of Atlas made it into the game I was wrong and will kill myself after this post)

Hawkeye is Ronin hence the swords Ronin being the name Hawkeye uses when he goes full loner Edgelord.

Characters I want in.

Captain Britain Betsy Braddock. You have Kwannon Psyloke in the game already this is a no brainer and can serve as an introduction to the Marvel Knights reality.

Cyclops. FIGURE IT OUT. the 97 show did and that was great seeing the real Scott Summers again giant fucking nerd also i suspect Optic Blasts would feel excellent to use in this game.

Delete Punisher Add Cable he's better.

Outlaw Delete Punisher Add Outlaw he's better.

Need more Villains

Mister Sinister you could do so much bullshit with his kit Science Magic Mutations hes done it all because tampering with his own genetics is fun.

Kang Bonus Points if they can deliver in game form what the movies flopped at.

TASKMASTER.

I would kill for Cyclops and Taskmaster.
I think they can have most characters even if they require a paralel universe deus ex machina, but it's not unfeasable considering the teaser on Dr. Doom's storyline (he's opening portals he's a very smart dude).
There was a small datamine that showed a few characters out of this beta:
  • Jean Grey
  • Emma Frost
  • Galacta
  • Fantastic Four heroes
The end roster is supposed to have 33 characters, so we can expect something out of it. I think we can expect a tie-in with the last Deadpool movie and get him, Cable and Colossus just because. I would be super stoked for Nightcrawler, Rogue, Sandman, Dr. Octopus, Gambit and Silver Surfer. Marvel got so many amazing characters and Rivals' design is peak style, for both male and female participants.

They have the golden ticket to success, it's been so long I saw so many people excited about a Marvel thing, just don't fuck it up:
don't go woke;
don't remove all the edge of the combat;
don't make toolkits redundant.

Whenever Taskmaster is not on screen all the other characters should be asking where's Taskmaster.

It's not just Reddit, my experience of POE2 so far is that there's always someone seething about how they can't 1button spam their way through a map in 5 mins in global chat at any given time. Or baiting about how D4 was better.
I never really got into POE1 because it was already a too high-commitment game by the time I became aware of it, but I've really been enjoying the time I've put into 2 so far. Really solid classic ARPG vibes. Played Mercenary a bit before switching to the Warrior which was quite an adjustment but the combos are honestly pretty crazy once you figure them out. Setting up a stun and then sweeping entire screens through chain reactions is some premium neuron activation. If I'm starting to get walled, it's time to upgrade my gear, and so on. Good stuff.
