Recent Warframe Devstream 183 summary, now that I'm back in action. Consider this more practice of me becoming a content creator proper, post-JVT.
Here is the actual Devstream itself, last one of the year before 1999:
1999 is coming in hot, any minute now, release date announced at The Game Awards, but the TechnoCyte Coda system is delayed to 2025 so that they can release 1999 in December with everything they want.
To make up for it, here's a new On-Lyne song from the latest ARG conclusion, and after they mentioned that they recorded at least 1.5 albums' worth of music for the 1999 update, it is entirely possible that TennoCon 2025 might be headlined with an On-Lyne concert:
For reference, On-Lyne's previous song, and the introduction to the TechnoCyte Coda (Infested Liches):
They're also releasing On-Lyne merch, including a collector's edition CD for their first single, how is it that Digital Extremes are manifesting a 90's boy band for their latest expansion's Nemesis System? I have absolutely no idea how they're going to follow this up with the post-1999 Expansion, but I'm starting to get scared! Surely, the money has to run out sometime, right? Right? (HoYoVerse don't look)

Coming with the update alongside the continuation of the main story + game modes, is a PvEvP mode called FACEOFF. Instead of two teams fighting each other, they are instead competing against each other to see who can complete sped-up + modified PVE modes the fastest, while dishing out buffs/debuffs to their/the opposing team Mario Kart style. Don't want to compete with other players? Play against NPCs (the Protoframes of 1999), which solves the problem of the game mode inevitably losing population over time (RIP Lunaro). You can gain reputation for the PVP mode here, so if you really don't want to do PVP, but still want the rewards, this is a viable alternative. You'll also play this mode for the new Arcanes in 1999, so the trading market is viable for people to come in and farm those Arcanes for players that do not want to touch a drop of any competitive mode.
There's also the dating sim mechanic with the Protoframes, which they've written 160k+ words for (plus cinematics, interactions, rejections, etc), this seems entirely overkill for side-content! But there's a goth woman with an impossibly long, parasitic tongue, so mentally ill anime women will simp for her (myself included). You'll have to run bounties with the Protoframe of your choice to increase Chemistry with them, answer their KIM messages, participate in their content within the system, and any mistakes made can be un-made after a real-time interval (so that people don't blaze through everything as soon as possible, and they don't trash their accounts they've spent hundreds/thousands of hours on).
All of this is accessed with the TechRot infested computer already on your ship (that currently leads to the 1999 demo), so it's a smooth transition if you're already prepared for it. This should also solve the problem of the system map being cluttered with the other game states (regular solar system map, Duviri Paradox, Railjack), while allowing additional content updates to the 1999 game area (just add more tabs to the computer, as a quick and dirty example).
The newest Warframe that can be farmed in the update, Cyte-09, is a Stealth-Sniper-Commando with an active reload on his signature weapon that gives his bullets fire elemental affinity, and he can throw down other elemental ammo packs that anyone in your party can pick up and utilize. His exalted sniper rifle can ricochet bullets up to five times after striking a weak point, combine that with his ability to permanently increase crit rate for each weak point hit, you'll be clearing rooms if you can aim well at least *once*. Or, you could utilize its alt-fire to freeze enemies instead, swap back into your fire-elemental active reload - or any of the elemental ammo packs - for easy combo potential. Surely, this won't get nerfed to oblivion in a balance patch later on, right?
And finally, there's the Rhino Heirloom coming early 2025, hopefully they continue making it available for both platinum and Real Money Dollars, because I'm still salty about Frost and Mag Heirloom! If I were a betting man, I would assume they might align it with the TechnoCyte Coda to further fuel the 1999 (second wave) hype. If they triple it up with the return of Nidus Prime, that's a powerhouse of retention right there - but the actual outcome is yet to be determined, I'm just laying down my copium.
Now, back to the mines I go. I've got a lot of chuubas playing Warframe to catch up on.
