I hate the shitty limitations on character customisation too, but she picked literally the worst example since these are schoolkids, and that is the school uniform.

Game freak sucks the poke fucking lore kinda overshadowed it but the leaks alos showed that they had tons of ideas for how to make their games better but just cut them cause they couldn't be asked to do it.
One example I saw on twitter was how X/Y was supposed to have a dynamic battle camera but that was scraped halfway through

For Pokemon this problem predates modern issues, the biggest mistake was people thinking GameFreak actually has or ever had competent programmers.

Going 3D was also a huge mistake as it was a company that had 2D and Sprite experience not 3D and everything in the games started getting worse from that moment onwards

For Pokemon this problem predates modern issues, the biggest mistake was people thinking GameFreak actually has or ever had competent programmers.

Going 3D was also a huge mistake as it was a company that had 2D and Sprite experience not 3D and everything in the games started getting worse from that moment onwards

The short development cycles really don't help either, that engine they've been using this whole time really needs someone to go in and untangle about a decade's worth of spaghetti code to actually optimise the thing, but when they're pressured to put a new game out every year to tie in with the new merch lines/anime/TCG sets etc. there literally isn't time to do that.
