I'm more curious about the unit non-stacking, will it be nearly as jarring to her as it was to experienced civ players.

I think she'll like the combat changes like actually being able to blockade chokepoints and not being able to just run past units and such instead of just having to rush down your enemy otherwise you end up constantly getting raided with enemies appearing at random in your lands

Civ5 was the first game in the series where i was conscious about raiding deep into enemy territory and destroying their roads.
