I'll be honest I've started feeling "VTuber burnout" myself. I think the fact that it's no longer 2020 in addition to all the smaller companies imploding and the larger companies ACCELERATING + graduations left and right has left me kind of feeling lost. I mean, this was something that kinda happened with the first wave of vtubers i.e. Kizuna Ai and their bunch, they all kinda burned out due to overexposure and getting too big for their britches (plus their companies being scummy). The streamer wave that followed was no doubt the big reason vtubing came back in a major way and it lasted until... basically last year? Last year really felt like a major turning point. Of course the largest turning point was probably Selen's graduation, but it just kinda kept going and going until Ame's graduation and that was probably the last time I personally was invested in Hololive. Now it just feels so empty, like there's no point in following them and they're chasing out all of the people who aren't 100% totally willing to be the big Japanese idol they expect people to be. It's really cool that they're still doing stuff and whatever but it just makes me feel sad not seeing my oshi having fun alongside them.
Not to mention, solo vtubing is a very different experience and is no different from bog-standard streamers which, frankly, have never interested me. The unique format of Vtubing, especially with Hololive (set games for a set amount of 3-ish hours, consistent live schedule, consistency in general, singing, dancing, etc) is part of the reason I genuinely loved it. Nowadays the only vtuber I watch is basically just Pippa, though I wanna branch out to more of Phase in general.
