Has there been some kind of new discourse about video game cutscenes or something? I agree some games are a bit too talk-y for their own good (though that's more of a problem with those slow sections where you walk slowly while an NPC yaps at you rather than actual cutscenes), but it's obvious Pippa's problem is just that the game asks her to pay attention to something for a couple of minutes here and there.
The only recent ones I've heard are people complaining about the mon hun wilds cutscenes. I could've sworn you could just skip them though in this one.
I assume she's playing wilds on her switch or something, it suffers from worlds walk around for 20 mins cutscenes. What she's talking about is not wrong, but her issue is 1-2 min cutscenes bore her, not the 10-20 min ones people are actually complaining about.

read that shit runs at like 20-30 fps max. terrible optimization. i suspect she might have just been watching a stream or video of some game and the streamer bitched about the game's cutscenes. it's one of her few "controversial" gamer opinions i agree with: cutscenes are gay and too long. i want to play the game, narrative is cringe, let me shoot shit or smash shit or w/e.

optimization is shit but steam deck supports remote play meaning you can just stream from your main PC to the deck to make use of the better hardware
It's also really bad for MH in general because it's really easy to compare it to the more arcade-ish style games like Generations or even Rise, and question why the fuck they brought back the singular worst part of World; namely, pointless generic characters doing pointless generic things to extend playtime. That first 10-ish hours of World is fucking painful, with five minute cutscenes in between 10 minute walking simulators; then you hear Vaal Hazak's theme and things start to get better from there, especially with the DLC fixing stuff. Capcom REALLY needed to learn from that fuck-up the first time, but learning is hard for JP suits

That introduces a degree of input lag, which is an absolute killer for MH. Makes the game feel sluggish and unfun when you miss a timing you should have hit. That's also why the AI frame gen to get to 60 fps is such a big issue for the game, it feels like playing in sludge.

world was my first mh, I did enjoy it for the most part, i agree the beginning was a bit rough but it was very fun. I did like that Rise threw you into it much quicker. MH having shit launches (that still somehow do really well) is par for the course now lol. the shit DRMs and lack of optimization to boost fps will be tuned in time, but sucks for early adopters.
