I tried doing the latter, but I kept hitting the walls on the side and I gave up 2/3 of the way down.

The walls do slowly funnel in so you need to plan around that if you wanna do it all the way down.

What is the actual benefit of an electric shovel? This looks like it'd be way more cumbersome to use irl than just digging manually.
