It's trendy to blame everything wrong with anime culture on male otaku, but female vtubers have convinced me that the female audience is just as culpable if not worse in some aspects. In general most models trend young/childish. Some vtubers openly admit to liking loli models/content. (IE: Pikamee, Shiina.) When given the opportunity for a re-model or to chose their appearance they lean young/small/"cute." Lately when IRyS comments on her own redesign she mentions that she herself leans towards "cute/young" style, so I'm expecting the worst tbh.

Even have cases like Snuffy where she went from full-on big titty MILF to... whatever the fuck she is now. Meanwhile, I can't point to any cases of Vtubers which graduated from a child model to an adult one. Where are the MILF tubers? Has anybody who blames men for current Otaku culture trends actually sat down with Women and asked them? Because even when the decisions are entirely left to them we still end up exactly where we are now. Loli/Cutesy/Young models everywhere.

Where are the MILFS? Where are the mature/cool designs?
Is Nina Kosaka really the only mainstream tuba to embrace both the personality and design?

First we need a "take you meds" reaction, second if you want a real answer most women want to be cute rather than sexy, why? because being sexy comes with the unwritten implication that you are down to be erotic and flirty, a lot of women that are actually hot in real life find themselves wishing they weren't because I comes with the baggage of spending a whole life dealing with coomers and creeps, so when comes to vtubers were they get to choose what they look like most prefer to be adorable and cute since they can act playful and cute without being told to say AraAra every 5 seconds or being called Mommy so much it stops sounding like a word.

Youtube has been recommending me clips / streams of AniMare's Hira Hikari and haven't seen her posted here yet.
I've mostly stuck with the big corpos as well as indies in my own language so far, but she's pretty fun and the model is kinda cute.
(Also i know nothing about AniMare / 774 so please feel free to ruin them for me)

She's just passed 40k subs on youtube (so not really that small) but i think she's worth checking out if you know japanese or are fine watching clips.

She's also had a stream with an auto speech-to-text translation, similar to what Nazuna uses occasionally, very cute.

So I know corpo vtubers needs permission to play games. What about mods? I know something like this where Axel is using a sprite or when the Myth girls played Don't Starve with their own characters modded into the game really wouldn't need permission since it's already implied. But theoretically, would they need each mod author's permission to play a fully modded game of Fallout New Vegas?

In super-litigious Japan, absolutely yes. They even have to get mod permissions for individual Minecraft texture packs. Otherwise, not that I know (not sure about Indonesia, but I doubt it).

recommended to me a lot, he seems to be dedicated to 774 and other small corpos that clip of Hira talking about kissing her sister when semi viral and now she has a decent chunk of English people in her subscribers, I also encourage people to check other of the 774 girls clips since they also seem interesting they seem to be kinda yabe and sorta on the side of lewd humors but not extremenly and have some pretty interesting stories, the only thing I knew about animare before this they are the group that all fucked Roberu (even the one that haven't met him) and their mother too.

So I just went down a bit of a rabbit hole and ended up with more questions than answers:

I recalled that an artist whose works I would occasionally come across was planning to become a vtuber, so I decided to check them out, only to find that they have been inactive for several months.

This is Nana Nanatsuki otherwise known as the artist Ex-Pulse:

Their situation is similar to Juniper's as they made their own model and have made it evident that they are simply an artist portraying their OC, though unlike Juniper her model was rigged by brian_tsui rather than herself.

Her now inactive Twitch: nana0957 (would link but this site seems to want to turn it into a video) and her Twitter where she appears to still post: https://twitter.com/nana0957.

Naturally, I wanted to find out what had happened to her but couldn't find anything as to why she stopped streaming. Instead I found that they were apparently part of a vtuber group known as Atelier Live. I back searched the thread to see if there was any information on this but all I found was that they were more of a friend group rather than a real company and collective befuddlement as to why Artemis of the Blue was also in this group surrounded by mostly artists who had made their own models. My search lead me to lolcow.farm where I found that they were affiliated with a very familiar face:

That's right, Ina/Naguri was apparently part of this group and rumored to be in some kind of managerial position.
I couldn't find too much more on Atelier Live, their twitter still seems to be active, but their Reddit hasn't been touched in about a year and is 90% about Artemis (Does this count as a "Reddit Moment"?).

Looking further into Ex-Pulse/Nana herself I found that they are a vtuber mama: https://www.expulse.moe/collection ( I can't decide whether I love or hate the name Midwest Raven) and they wrote a web comic featuring her Nana character: Four Quarters (I haven't read it so I have no idea of its quality but you can tell how long she has been working on it simply based on the progression of the art quality).

This is just from a couple of hours of searching and I'm not sure how much further I am going to go down this hole but my journey has presented many different directions which my inquiry can continue to venture.

What happened to Nana/Atelier Live?

Why was Artemis in a group mostly comprised of talented artists?

What was Ina's involvement in the group?

Did Ina study geology in Calgary?

Will Yuni stream later today after several months of hiatus and a busted computer?

Nice little rundown. I remember seeing this art from a while ago but never got curious and now you've made me curious with all this connection stuff.

Speaking of Artemis I doubt anyone cares, but somehow he found a way to get a new outfit.

Yeah, pretty much they need permission from every source that could come for them, and the act of tracking down every mod author for individual perms is impossible. The only times you see mods being used is when they're specifically made for the corpos and the mod is granted with explicit perms.

It makes sense for IRyS to want a cute design. She's a complete dork that's way too into anime. She is not the "mature" type at all.

Short answer: Yes.

Altare talked about it with Minecraft, but basically for them to use mods you need permission from the creator by Holopro's rules they even needed them for shaders I believe. I don't know how every corpo handles that, but according to Altare you need permission for mods just to be on the safe side and avoid hassle. So Mods are a huge hurdle unless they're fan made stuff or somehow easy to get permission for.

I've been trying to watch more Fauna lately, I really like her voice and much like Juniper I do enjoy those glimpses into her hidden power level. A few streams ago she mentioned the Jeb meme which I thought only Metokur fans knew about.

Actually relevant talking point: So Axel was playing everyone's favorite "Bullet Heaven" Vampire Survivors last night and this morning, and in his first stream he talked about how he wants to try roleplaying as your high school best friend because he can just act as himself pretty much and he doesn't have to do any "sussy shit". Dingo is too pure and dumb if he doesn't see how this can go very wrong on a parasocial level.

He also had a little sprite of himself with a chain whip attack animation that he used to put over top the Vampire Survivor player sprite, and supposedly all members of Tempus have a sprite like this that they can use. I don't know why they have these, but it exists.

There's been a Hololive mod for Vampire Survivors for a while. Why the Holos didn't bother using it is likely a permissions thing. I'd chalk Tempus being able to use it as those mod perms finally clearing but way after the Vampire Survivors meta for the girl Holos have passed.
