Yes, and it's probably not as bad as it looks. A violin is made by bending wood into unnatural shapes and then adding essentially wires that are under a lot more strain than you might think, it spends its whole life barely balanced between powerful forces that want to pull it apart. (Edit: maybe a useful comparison is that it's like a crossbow that's wound up the whole time). But if you have the money they're usually repairable.
