And then by proxy his totally not girlfriend get access to all the popular streamers/youtubers

She would be popular regardless of hololive.

As for why she keeps pretending vshojo isnt a multi million dollars VC backed corpo (when it totally is), it's because of kson who make an entire show out of corpo bad and talent freedom when she joined and swaying everyone with it.

She started streaming around 2017 but didn't get a vtuber model until around early 2020 just as the boom of vtubing in JP was starting to bleed into the western audiences.
