I wish there was a way to get notified of member content (upcoming streams, etc.) without being a member. I don't want to drop money on a membership when she goes MIA for months at a time, but I don't mind re-upping when there is actually content she's doing. Didn't even know she had done a members stream until she mentioned it at the beginning of her MiSide stream. Did it get privated already for some reason? I'm waiting for it to pop up on HoloPirates discord/site so I can go back and watch it.
I have exceptionally fond memories of the northeast blackout back in 2003, it was actually wild to see the state of a city during a complete power loss scenario and just experiencing it was phenomenal. I would do anything to get to relive that feeling again...

It's probably by design to prevent people from membering only to snatch content and dropping the membership. Then again, youtube notifications just don't work properly 80% of the time so it's not like it'd help much.

In youtube's view, they're working exactly as designed. i.e. Youtube picks and chooses when it wants to show you a notification based on metrics from some inscrutable machine learning algorithm. You, as a filthy peasant, aren't smart enough to decide what videos are important enough to be notified about. Only benevolent Google can make that decision. (This is the same thinking that made them cripple the youtube search results a couple years ago.)

I suppose you get some of both. Some people stay membered in the hope of being thrown a bone or out of some obligation I guess, but others like me just drop it and only re-up when there is new content. By notifying somehow that there is new member content, at least they would get my membership money from time to time. But if I miss out on it and can't join in live, then might as well just grab it from elsewhere.
As far as YT notifications, surprisingly it has gotten much better, from what I've seen. At least for me it pretty much always gives me notifications for member posts, 1/2 hr before member streams start, and then the actual start. I do remember the time though back when it would never notify me and even now they still do come a bit late sometimes, but at least I get them.
