True, but making someone go cold turkey on a high dosage is basically braiding the noose for them.
Do SSRI's cause any severe withdrawal symptoms? And I'm not talking about feeling like shit for a couple weeks.
If so, I was never aware of that.
Edit: from a very quick search I couldn't find anything severe if you're quitting SSRI's cold turkey.

I wouldn't wish cold turkey SSRI withdrawal on my parole officer, especially if they're on any meaningful dosage. For me it was six weeks of fever-like malaise (minus the sweats). Been a decade since I touched one, never again, I don't care if my doctor says my brainrot would be cured with metaphysical certainty by some new formulation, there's no fucking way. That and as said, the chance of disassociation is too high; that's a drug-caused ailment that makes "do no harm" impossible to uphold IMO.
Vyvanse does more for me than any SSRI ever did, anyway. Stimulants, fuck yeah.

SSRI withdrawal is really nasty but it's not an "end of your life" situation. It's one of those medication that never should have been so heavily prescribed due to the enormous drawbacks and how frequently they are thrown in as "catch-alls" to people with mental problems. It's basically a band-aid that fuses with the skin and only makes you worse as your body builds up a stronger resistance to it, making eventually pulling off that band-aid a real bitch.
One of the main issues with SSRIs is its often prescribed to people with depression and like all drug withdrawals, one of the compenents is that your body after a long enough usage starts to become reliant on those drugs and builds your homeostasis around it. The result is that people become so depressed, when they're already physically fatigued and worn down, that they often kill themselves. So physically, they aren't in any danger, they're just going to be a fucked up for a bit. However mentally they are potentially going to want to kill themselves. If they're smart, they'll wean themselves off it with continuously lower dosages so they aren't hit with it cold turkey. Tapering can take like a few weeks to maybe a few months, depending on how completely fucked they are and how heavy their dosage was.
