I think one reason viewers might push a streamer towards Twitch is just that it's a much more fun platform for chatting. Lots of plug-ins for emotes and such, more interaction available generally, etc.

Particularly the kind of extremely dedicated (not to say no-life) fans who would join a fan discord tend to be the people who catch every stream live, so a better live experience is their priority and they'll favour Twitch.
