You know, this reminded me that I forgot to ever mention this because it happened a month prior to me learning about it, so much of what happened is still a mystery to me, but apparently Xalamon and Smugdoka caused a prolific Phase fan artist and Lumi fan to quit for a while because of their faggotry in her Discord server (shocking, I know). Eight Tyan rings a bell. He's done a lot of Phase fan artwork, but back in August, he wiped his entire Twitter and stopped making Phase art for a few months. He recently picked it back up again, but I don't think he ever rejoined Lumi's Discord. He does make art of her again, but I don't know how much he interacts with her community, as I don't interact much with it myself.
Again, I'm not 100% what happened, but from what it sounded like, Xal and Smug were possibly doing some gay oldfag vs newfag shit that annoyed a lot of people by separating her fans in "Gens". I have no idea what it really entailed. Looked like some dumb RP shit and while others played along with it, it seems to have annoyed quite a few people, including many of her regulars like Eight.

Was it a case of Xal and Smug being annoying fags or an overreaction from some people? No idea. Probably an bit of both. Looks like a bunch of people were playing along with this whole "Gen" stuff, but it's clearly a sore spot for plenty of people in her Discord and apparently enough for a prolific Phase fan artist to quit for a while.
I personally don't have that much of an issue with Xal or Smug, but that's because I don't interact with her community much. I only watch her streams, and they don't seem to derail or interrupt her streams too often, so I don't pay much attention to them. But whatever happened here definitely shows how obnoxious they can be to active members of her community (NS and Sleeping Jesus are two names I see quite often in her chat). So while I don't really have much if a personal issue with them, I definitely don't have a positive opinion of them either. It tends to be people like them that keep me away from interacting with fandoms/communities for most things. Hell, if it wasn't for this place, I would have no one to talk to about vtubers.
Sorry, super off-topic and should post this in General instead (will probably crosspost it), but since Xal was brought up relating to the topic of annoying mods, I was reminded of this here. Again, I don't have more info regarding this, and it did happen months ago, but some may find this limited info interesting.
TL;DR: Jannies and Discord servers are all cancer and faggy by default unless proven otherwise.
