They're not as big as Luxiem was in its heyday, but the idea that they're still going for the brotuber vibe is absurd.

I don't know about the newer generation, they didn't interest me so I didn't pay attention, but they're pretty blatantly interested in playing games or fucking around. They're not remotely BFE. Shinri is just a fag and Flayon... well to be fair I think Flayon has done some yandere streams.

Id like to defend Mito here. She is nowhere close to Gura. She went back to the OG vtubing days and started making edited videos like it was in 2018 rather than streaming. She pretty much upload a video every week (not stream highlights) and have song covers out every months. Those take time to make.
She is the opposite of gura and actually hardworking as fuck. Just that streaming isnt her cup of tea anymore and people only care about ccv these days because numbermonkey. But she should still be earning alot for riku's yacht. Just not through super chat.


However just like NijisanjiEN. She doesnt even bother adding english subtitles to her edited videos. Nijisanji just give up on the non-japanese audience as a whole.

I'm interested in good content, and when good creators click you get gold. Vesper x Kronii collabs had such an energy that the only way to hate it is to be a miserable unicorn that can't fathom sharing joy with their peers.
Should they do it everyday? Hell no, but vtubing would gain a lot from some gameshows and other TV-format collaborations like Niji used to do, that just works.

Like the funny germans advancing medical science with unethical experiments, Kurosanji helped innovate the Vtuber sphere.

Regarding the loud mouths. It's always the OKHB fuckers. They love to pose as stars and flayon fans despite not watching their streams.
For male vtuber. Unironically what holo does dont work. For 2d anime vtuber, the tried and true method is gaybaiting and acting as Shota/BFE. They are unique perks that one can make use of.
Holo not dipping into this market doomed the branch. If you are doing nothing different than a normal male twitch streamer, you will be competing with every normal twitch streamers
And the average brotuber watchers prefers a streamer with a face than girly looking anime boys.

Male nijis would get less popular than now if people didn't care about 2D maletubers that much.
If we're talking about the It factor that gets them the amount of fanbase they have now they basically run just the same as Holostars: pick a skill set/style that you like and be an autist about it, the difference is that niji doesn't have that extra baggage of Idol label plastered onto them in the early days while Holostars struggles at first because the people that notice them at first are the fans of Hololive who may or may not against the idea of a male-only branch.
And I mean, if it's about the fanservice factor like BFE and gaybaiting, well... They have that kind of stuff, Shien and Oga literally have a whole skit that makes fujos shipped them hard like these



I also know Astel used to have a monthly membership voicepack which can get pretty BFE, though he stopped at some point during his burnout iirc.
Then you have the project-driven people like Rikka, Arurandeisu and Temma, who do occasional big projects either as a standalone thing or anniversary/birthday celebration (Aruran recently had a birthday celebration stream that uses a TV program format and Temma made his own visual novel game for his birthday which then he showcased on a stream). Generally, most of Holostars had their own thing going on albeit at a slower pace because I'm sure these kinds of stuff cost them a lot.
Personally besides the reasoning above, Holostars also doesn't have the luck of being introduced in a larger viewers demography that could potentially be their future fans due to how Holopro operated back then. But it also means that the fanbase they have now is pretty tight-knit and tends to cheer for everyone involved, which could be good or bad depending on how they behave in the future.

Again I could be wrong but I do feel like they've done all they can to match up what people are looking for in maletubing, it's just that they're stuck with the few prejudices they have and how COVER still doesn't promote them enough while also sometimes limiting how far they could go with projects/stuff. The growth they had over the years has been really good but the current stagnation coupled with the possible issues they had on the EN branch is like a ticking time bomb if it's not solved sooner.

Kuro's mom apparently has some serious medical problems, which she kept on the down low from him until they flared up when she was visiting him in Indonesia this week.

I talked about his financial situation here before, and since he's still paying off his back taxes for now, he was contemplating setting up a donation goal to help with medical expenses. But his usual menhera complexes showed themselves again.



In the end he finally set up a donation page just about two hours ago. 22% of the $15000 goal have already been funded.

He says he might talk about some specifics together with his mom on stream tonight.
