She barely did any streams after taking a long break, so it's like she just gave up. I think she only did one of her vlog type videos too, but I could be wrong. I kind of think she just wanted out, but maybe had to do the donothon stuff to get her last check or something.
If only Pochi hadn't ruined her exit plan.

There were some /vt/ rats about her crying about making no money after coming back and not wanting to work at Starbucks or something. But given how schizo her fanbase is I don't know how much of that is serious. I'd guess she either thinks she can keep a satisfactory audience size as an indie and not have to split income or she just didn't like the fanbase she ended up cultivating as Yuko.
I saw the clip, she did cry about going back to starbucks.

With all this talk about Idol today, I'll post this:

I don't know much about Nikki Rei. I knew about her interest in woodworking and occasionally doing woodworking streams before, but I finally decided to pay more attention to that aspect of her as I have an interest in woodworking as well. Granted, I don't do much woodworking myself and mostly do wood carving, but I still enjoy watching some woodworking content. I finally ended up watching her tool collection stream from two months ago, so I'm pretty late on it, but I don't recall anyone talking about it. She said she started actually woodworking about a year and a half ago, so her collection has been collected in that time frame. One fun thing is that she names many of her tools after vtubers. Not all of them are named yet, but some examples are:

Was a fun and different kind of stream. She's done some other streams that I plan on watching eventually, and may try to catch a livestream when she does more of these.

Time for some WRESTLETUBER CLIPS

Doki and Mint were making out over the intermission.

Mint vs Matara, where Mint cosplays as Lord Farquaad and rides the cockroach like a horse.

The final tournament match, where Bettel wins everything for five seconds, only to lose to the most cursed fucking live2D I have ever seen in my life, only to eventually keep the belt on a technicality. I could not stop laughing, I don't think there could be a more Bettel-esque ending to the whole event.

Guys I am so damn happy for Doki, Mint and Matara here. Especially Doki, to really recover she needs people in her life who know what she went through and are still standing by her. Not only that, the crazy amount of participation in Wrestletuber was insane, everyone was really invested into their appearances(unlike Wrestlesanji, ENNA). This is kind of a show of unity behind Doki by everyone in the industry, not just by the fans this time but the actual talents themselves. With Mint talking on her stream about how her and Doki finally were able to reconnect and stayed up talking all night I almost teared up, the Niji graduates all seem to be happier in their new homes and I'm so fucking happy to see it (yes, even Sayu, she's got friends in Phase and some indie connections, a decent subscriber count, a great model, she unironically needs to transfer to twitch and start automodding dramabait and she will be 100% fine moving forward).

Only thing left to achieve for closure content-wise is a Mumei/Doki collab, which is on the way at some point IMO after how many Holostars were in Wrestlesanji. My hope is that Doki can achieve her goals so damn well as an indie that she can look back on her struggles in Niji in a positive way. I'm no unity-fag, but this whole event has brought the v-tubing sphere together in a way I hadn't thought possible.

It was rigged towards Bettel to win it (see: the ref did not count the entire 15 seconds Filian pinned him) so Yagoo could phone in the Mumei/Doki collab.

Just talents getting in over their head thanks to not enough supervision from management.
This is probably the central cause for a lot of Idol's issues, and I think in general the standards for what a corpo talent manager does are far too low. On one hand vtubing itself is a young industry so being able to find people with specific, dedicated vtuber management experience isn't really an option, but on the other hand I keep seeing these girls run into problems that we've seen time and time again in online entertainment, that someone with even just 5-10 years' worth of general YouTube experience would have caught.

I've been around for a long fucking time, I've been watching shit on YouTube since shortly after it opened in the mid 2000s, and I've seen countless people rise and fall for the same small handful of reasons. The most consistent trend has been that creators tend not to be great business people, which leads them to make short-sighted business decisions. They'd overcommit to time-consuming fundraiser goals that overwhelm them (Spoony movie, Project 7 reboot etc.). They'd take shortcuts to success that limit their shelf life (like the tits-in-thumbnail egirls whose fans would lose interest once they got a boyfriend/lost their looks, or the guys who'd grind on a popular "meta" game until they burnt out on it). Things like the burden of Pochi's donothon goals and Yuko's channel crashing once she stopped being a substitute girlfriend didn't come out of nowhere, they all have precedents.

Naturally, young twenty-something's you hire on because they can yap and play vidya on a livestream are vulnerable to repeating these mistakes because they're not as familiar with the landscape; but a good manager should be able to pick up the slack for them. They should pre-emptively challenge risky decisions, and they should be looking out for the longevity of the talent's career within the company.

Management, when done right, is not simple - it puts you in positions where you need to produce answers for difficult questions, and where you'll always need to consider the bigger picture on behalf of people who act on their impulses. It's a specialist job for a reason. Competent support should be one of the biggest perks of being in a corpo (tied with the marketing, which to be fair, Idol dedicate a lot of resources to) - but it feels like they're just hiring unqualified newfags whose responsibilities begin and end at sending emails.

In regards to Yuko, I think some people just aren't cut out to handle certain things. I believe you can absolutely do all kinds of degen stuff behind paywalled content or whatever and then go on to have normal streams as if nothing happened. You have to just actually put effort into making people aware that you won't tolerate all the worst coomer stuff outside of the designated area. Noel has some of the worst kayfabe separation in Holo and she's also like one piece of fabric away from doing full on penetration on her asmr channel, yet her chat is relatively normal for a Holo. I know there is a difference because Noel's is literally on a different channel, but I think generally it can hold true even if you use the same persona for it.

IMO Yuko's main problem is that she engaged heavily with her fanbase and also didn't put in the effort to control the worst outliers who are actual crazy schizos. She was either too lazy to get a handle on them or she wasn't built to handle them. I think she may have been lazy just due to the actions she took to try and move forward. Each decision was always instant and nearly without warning. No effort went into how the new normal would work, and in the end she just didn't do anything anyway. I personally don't understand the pure vitriol directed at her, but just like Nyanners before her I think that she acted shittily towards her fanbase. Instead of putting in the work to address the more psychotic elements she just took a hammer to the whole thing. And while there was no announcement from yuko officially that she pretty much hated her fans that had helped her get to the point she was at, she ended up making that known just by going back and associating with people who by all rights are antis.

In the end it comes as no surprise this is where she's ended up. I don't hate her and I only really watched her sporadically, but it's certainly never a good look when you treat fans like that, and so she essentially joins the Nyan-tier. Where you can't really trust her as a fan to not up and change her mind on a whim that you are now a problem that needs to go away.

Maybe working at starbucks again will give needed perspective on how good you can have it if you put in minimal effort at your cushy streaming job.

It may be me looking arrogantly from up on high but I fail see how idol is any less managed than any other EN small corpo or indie, to me the entire EN side of things is basically a zoo of people trying to outplay each other in degeneracy, raunchy content, mental illness and trying to go as far as possible without getting banned by youtube/twitch. Just the shit I see here daily has desensitized me to it, imo the jews just got too greedy with donothons and didn't have enough incentives for their whores to not fuck off.

Yuko really needed more intervention earlier on, because while we know that sexual content needs to be handled very carefully or it'll backfire, younger people tend not to think long-term like that. The adult industry sustains itself on this; if everyone involved in pornography were over 30 there would be very few new performers, because by that age they'd all be familiar with the starry-eyed glamour model -> washed-up anal whore -> suicidal cokehead cycle and know not to get involved. Yuko's more explicit streams were borderline pornography so they came with the same risks, which an experienced manager should have been able to identify even if she didn't.

To my knowledge the only time Idol reeled her in was mid-stream during the lemonade piss thing - and it wasn't because it's degrading and brings the wrong attention to the company, it was because it was a ToS risk. It took her literally gambling the majority of the company's income from having her channel shut down (and by extension likely the other talents' channels, because of how YouTube's anti-dupe account systems work) before they decided it was getting a bit much.

I mostly agree on the way she handled the change in direction making the problem worse, but honestly by that point the damage was already done and she just seemed disenfranchised with the Yuko identity. In hindsight that one announcement stream felt like a stoner realising they're fucking themselves up and deciding to go cold turkey, so even if it did cost her that audience it showed a sign of personal growth on her part, for me at least.

It may be me looking arrogantly from up on high but I fail see how idol is any less managed than any other EN small corpo or indie, to me the entire EN side of things is basically a zoo of people trying to outplay each other in degeneracy, raunchy content and trying to go as far as possible without getting banned by youtube/twitch. I mean, this is obviously talking extremes, but I think back to Pippa talking about having Muumi fly over to her at short notice to help her with her passport shit for the Japan trip in person because she was anxious about it, then think about how Idol let Yuko make terrible self-destructive choices for months on end without pushing back against it, and it really does feel like they're making no attempt to keep shit in order.

The indie scene is a fucking mess but that's kinda my point, they tend not to have managers (or if they do it's probably some friend-of-a-friend who has no actual influence over them) so anything goes. Having someone tell you the impulsive idea you had is stupid and will hurt you in the long run should be an advantage of being in a corpo since it's mutually beneficial, it helps the company get more mileage out of their investment in the talent, and keeps the talent in a stable job for longer.

Thank you for the information. I have subscribed to all of them and will now only watch Whorelure talents. No more wholesome, cute vtuber content for me.

Look at this cute fucking dinosaur!

Is it just me or did she model her character voice after a Land Before Time character?

I'm 90% sure she's formerly Rune Bunnura, given her speech patterns, voice, and choice of games. I'm happy for her, she seems to be having fun so far and getting a lot more views than when she was indie.

The better @superduper who's not a fag (I think) has graced us with his presence and declared his intentions known. A proper stoning should suffice but since stones are hard to come by these days because of the war in Gaza a proper react should be enough.
