Tiktok thrived because Winnie the Poop is funding it as a spying tool, and even tiktok started allowing 10 minute videos earlier this year.

im just curious why Holo, Niji or the other small EN corpos didn't pick them up earlier, there are clips of them saying that they've applied multiple times to diff agencies both together and separately. They've obviously come in with a plan and some sorely-needed discipline and are fucking killing it. Their voices filter me hard so I can only watch them in collabs, but you have to give them props for their success. They've worked for it.

Cant speak for Niji, probs didnt apply to smaller corpos after their experience of their first one. Holo has so many applications they get to pick and choose according to their own standards. There are probs many having just as impressive plan and discipline as them but also rejected and we never hear about them. I bet they were also applying for JP branch too, that's why their number are higher than the rest.

I never really watched them much before but now that their exposure has exploded thanks to Holo, jesus fuck that actual retard that shut them down. Imagine having them in your hands and you squander it. I hope he's disemboweling himself in shame seeing now what he's lost.

The benefits of a serious vtubing brand, of having other people to play off of, are massive. Even the greatest talents will flounder if they're in the wrong place, and it needn't have anything to do with that place doing anything specifically wrong, it can just be the wrong place.

Even if MangaGamer had given them all the support in the world, they'd never have accomplished what they have accomplished in Holo, simply by virtue of MangaGamer not being a vtubing business. They were mascots for something else. The best they could hope for with MangaGamer would've been Crunchyroll-Hime levels of success. That seems to be the current ceiling for corporate mascot vtubers.

Whether it's mascot vtubers or small corps like MyHoloTV, they're feeders that filter aspiring talents for the market leaders. The top of the bunch will move on eventually.

Yeah, it used to be different, but Holo 2nd gen with Subaru was a different era. A talent starting with streams like 2018 Subaru would collect roughly a million antis in no time flat and collapse under the pressure these days. That kind of stuff has to be left to smaller players.

I'm not a fan of tier lists and a list of "corpo fuckups" would stretch a mile but more narrowly focusing on talents who were dropped by or quit from one agency just to make it big at another might be interesting fodder, especially since it looks like it's about to happen again with one of the new PC members (and it looks like dramatubers are no longer expected to pretend that PLs don't exist).

(Also I find it hilarious that only the most dedicated (or those who have their OS set up to be able to type full-width romaji at a moment's notice) are able to @ me and I intend to keep it that way.)

The biggest corpo fuckup for me is Polka when she was Nobuhime Oda. She was getting popular with her covers gaining a million views (though I don't know if this was before or after she went to Holo) and has an INFAMOUS mochi eating ASMR video. Not surprised she graduated because her previous corpo was Upd8, known for major fuckups and mismanagement.

Not just any simple viral vtuber. She was earning "tens of millions yen" in her debut year as Nobuhime, and said she aimed for 100 millions ($700k) total in that year, while already being selective and turning down sponsors she didn't like. This is not just any simple blunder, it's literally millions of dollars blunder, upd8 were sitting on so much money with just Nobuhime & Kizuna and they managed to go under.

Speaking of Polka she released a new cover just now. A song feature a soft and cute sounding fox and fubuki. Seriously stop alternating between your alter egos Polka.
