I got a community strike because one of my videos had "nudity" in it. It wasn't really explicit nudity but the bots determined it was (buttcheeks). Instead of appealing I decided to just delete the video because if the "nudity" was an issue I could just delete, re-edit that part, and re-upload. Turns out that if you delete you can't contest so I basically ate the strike (the more you know).

No offense Azehara, but how new are you to YouTube in general. I thought everyone knew that deleting a struck video makes it impossible to contest it that's like YouTube 101.

$50 a stream is not terrible. Taking off-days and weekends so roughly 20 days a month x 50 = $1,000 = $700 after YT takes its cut. I would assume that the bulk of her money comes from memberships.


Playboard is very accurate when it comes to Superchat. What it's not accurate about is Ad Revenue. It would report I earned $8-$90 on a video when in reality I only had just earned about $21 on it. The formula I had for it was the lower number x2 + 50-70% extra. So (8*2)+4 = 20. (going with 50% cuz easier)

Videos used to get on average $1 per every 1000 views on it but after October 2022 that shit went to about $0.60-0.70 per 1000 and that is on a Green video. On a Yellow video you get about 10% of that plus the video itself doesn't really get recommended so its growth goes to shit. This is why my upload went to shit these last 2 weeks. Since I am getting Insta Yellow'd when I post something and I have to request a manual content review, I have to sometimes wait 3-5 days for that shit. My goal was to get 4 videos a week. Now I'm down to about 2 (preview + full video). Last month was my biggest month with the biggest sub increase + biggest viewer + biggest hourly watched and I got less money overall than when I got monetized.


Does anyone know exactly what was the nude pic in question? I think explicit penetrative sex is basically a 1-way ticket to get banished into the shadow realm when it comes to youtube. Nudity itself will probably only get you a strike.

Yeah, with YT, you have to Private Videos, otherwise you can't do anything with them from the Studio. I'm not a YT creator, but I watch enough that far too many "this is how to YT" info passes around.

As for ad rates, they're in the tank because we're in a Global Recession that's only getting started. They collapsed in the entire Online Ad Market by March 2023. YT just started earlier. Ad-based stuff is only sustainable at massive scale, so it's about producing consistent revenue. Which is why Vtubing is about getting Subs. That's the real cash cow for the Vtuber. Merch / Sponsorships is the money maker for Video-based channels and/or Corporations that have Vtubers.

Curious about the limited ads. Do you have a guess what they're about? I have a few ideas for how to deal with some of that stuff on YT, but I also feel like the concepts might be actual poison pills and completely break the Algo.

Edit - I will note I've had the idea for something like a SpiffingBrit YT Hack research project when it comes to Ad stuff. The problem is, I think YT actually knows there's some vulnerabilities around it and the ... umm... amount of carnage an actual approach can take would be a problem. The main thing is you'd need to read up on Google's patents to get a better picture of how they actually do their processing. For ContentID, the Video one has a couple of known work arounds, it's the Audio that's a lot more interesting. They can pick up muffled, licensed music in the background of Vlogs and still tag it, thus there's something very clever going on with the way the actually map the Content itself. Though we know it can't handle 1/16th note differences and pick between songs, so it must be post compression that it's doing the analysis, generally.

Don't worry, I'm not out to destroy YT. I think.

The couple times I've watched her streams they have been entertaining. Definitely one of the better Twitch vtubers I've seen.

I dont think it could be esports. Lets say they make a pro team for LoL. The team ends up qualifying for worlds. How are they gonna attend the LAN in person without breaking the whole purpose of vtubers?

Edit : also with the states of esport in general. They would just be losing money. A lot of orgs retired from esports in the recent years. So it would be one of the worst move hololive could make

I hope no one is dumb enough to start an eSports Org right now. Now, doing some weird hybrid Pro Streamer operates as a Vtuber thing could work. Former top pros that stream is a big market. In fact, quitting a top team and going full time streamer is normally better money than all but about 2-3 guys in an eSport make. (This is known as "how much money did RTZ lose by not streaming once a week?".)

Now, a harsh reality of pro players. They have almost no personality for streaming. They're super quiet, incredible introverts. The few that aren't have almost all gotten canceled because they're used to an environment that's hyper competitive and extremely toxic. This is actually why Pro Teams lose so much money. They can't do Branding / Promotion because their best players would rather sit and play for 14 hours than do 15 minutes of work to make themselves 10x the money. (A lot of them are good at games but otherwise rather dumb.)

You can see how the South Koreans have managed this. They actually force the guys to get media training, and, even then, only a couple are ever allowed to be the "face" of things.

I used to watch Tobs a little, since she streamed at unusual enough hours to fill in the gaps for my other preferred content creators & she was popular enough to have a few dedicated shills on /vt/. She can be pretty entertaining - you won't find many playing the scuffed retro games she does, and the resulting shovelware aesthetic is pretty unique. Worth checking out at least if she's on and you're not watching anything in particular.

People need to remember that 99% of Youtube runs on bots and algorithms. Parrot said he "only" had a couple frames of explicit images, slurs, and other potentially objectionable materials which he didn't think much of and left in the video. Not good enough. That's just gambling on whether the robot notices or is otherwise alerted and if it does it does not care about the context. Even if you somehow get your case in front of a real person they don't need to care either, especially if you aren't a major creator who can get connections with the real people behind the scenes.

I agree! She used to be extremely awkward in collabs and I used to think those were her worst streams but she's improved so much in her ability to talk with her coworkers. When she did that collab with Pippa and Tenma, it actually felt like she carried a significant fraction of the collab which blew me away!
