From the little I read in skkr, the JP side are more positive towards the former indies as they seem to understand the essence of Vtubing and the struggles of being one (also relates to the Cinderella story of an indie joining corpo and rising up in success).

They're not really fans of "fallen idols" and "fleshstreamer who is already popular" who they consider use the company for clout.

FWIW the current Flow Glow popularity from most popular to least is Chihaya, Su, Vivi, Nico, Riona.
I forget how similar to us the nips are some aspects lol, the obsession with PLs and insane standards and reasons for disliking new talent are all the same no matter where you go, though these opinions are obviously a fringe of dramamongers like us, most nips probably don't care.

I understand the sentiment, but you also can't just have all small Vtubers, because it'll just be a case of blind leading the blind. Small Vtubers don't know shit about the big leagues and having to work within the limitations of being in a huge company.
You need a good mix of established talents to lead the charge and the diamond in the roughs to break out after a while.

I just like the funny anime people. As long as they are entertaining, IDC how big or small they were before.

This. Also a lot of them already seem like they're gonna be a riot in collabs. Subaru is gonna lose her mind having to scream at an entire gen of people. :shubaIapprob:

Holy shit you fucking retards with a history of being openly supportive of idol culture spent the whole last page trying to gaslight EACHOTHER about the importance it plays at Cover as if nobody around here knows better.

We can see you aren't wearing any clothes, Emperor.

With official generation fanbase names being a thing in recent times, there is a possibility that the one for Flow Glow will be (Flow) Glowies.

That is a huge name. Well at least around 10 years ago.
She might fit in well. NMB back then always does owarai or manzai skit in their show.

It's also funny to see the AKB/idol gossip sites just post "RISSEN AIRI BECOMES A VTUBER" like fuck your PL customs and unspoken rules.
I do kinda feel wary since they're bringing both their fans and their antis.
There's already people reposting her idol-era rrats/evidence of having a boyfriend and being married.
People also posting her (terrible) live rapping being like "is this your GOAT?" but that's more hilarious

I was also thinking about in JP celebrity realms, idols are seen as the lowest rung of the ladder, which is where the "graduation" term comes and you're graduating to a more serious career like acting/singing/modeling/TV-hosting. (which is also why so many of them are underaged but that's another convo)
Where does vtubing stand as it enters mainstream?
I'm especially wary about formerly moderately-famous people entering vtubing and end up being dissatisfied at having less opportunities than before.

From what I can see their post idol careers had basically stalled with their youtube channels not getting many views (not counting that non idol girl with the million subscribers). So their opportunities had already dried up - vtubing is probably their best chance at getting any of that old glory back.

Skkr?

Anyways, crossposting here

Considering the two ex-idols and the established YT'er this is pretty close to having "pros" come in. The contrast is past vtuber "pros" not quite being popular with new identities. For Flowglow, I think the group aspect along with the two indies keeps things light, also Regloss is a silly factory. I like watching vsingers so I knew of Lina, but didn't really watch her because there are so many and the ribbon piercing isn't my thing but am happy she got picked up. Justice also had two really popular members and the other two were far less known. I think it's a good strategy especially as the generation unity is empathized.

Suki-Kirai I linked it previously in the Niji L thread. Basically where terminally online JP congregate and vote whether they like/dislike someone. Here's the Dev-IS page.

Looking at that page Ao's ranked as the most disliked Dev_IS member and glancing at her current stream (that just ended) she had a respectable 6 and a half thousand concurrent people watching her, around the same numbers as Ririka and Koyori and Noel are pulling on their streams at the same time. I'm not sure if that site's voters are really their target audience or if they're just being salty for the sake of it.

Its just JP sisters angry like usual

Oh yes, the academy where you will be making clips for free for popular members, that barely has anyone actually join the company afterwards, that got shutdown because a random nobody from the streets they enrolled decided it would be very fun to dox everyone else, whose members leaked that they were never actually taught anything and they were used as unpaid interns, and who is a laughing stock for all JP vtubers to the point where they make fun of it live on stream
Yeah, Hololive should definitely copy all of this, it worked out great for Nijisanji
