About ReGLOSS

ReGLOSS is a five-member VTuber girl group consisting of Hiodoshi Ao, Otonose Kanade, Ichijou Ririka, Juufuutei Raden, and Todoroki Hajime that will debut in September 2023 as a new group "Hololive DEV_IS" under Hololive productions.

They plan to distribute and post videos on the Hololive DEV_IS channel, focusing on music activities.

About Hololive DEV_IS

Hololive DEV_IS is a VTuber group that will carry out energetic unit activities under the themes of "growth" and "challenge" beyond the framework of conventional VTubers.

From a reddit post. Not sure where they got the English translation or if they did it themselves. They're more like an Idol group focused on music + other activities? I fully expect Kiara's Idol Autism to come out and give a deeper explanation.

Also, Juufuutei with the twin tails seems like a direct Persona send-up.

All of the characters have this 2 star design piece on them. I'm not sure what stars are counted in, but I'm guessing there's a wordplay involved in that in the Japanese.

And I closed the incognito window I opened Reddit in by accident. But someone linked to this PR release. Somewhere in there it says it's a new music project under Hololive. So, I guess Azki & Irys get some friends.

For all the teeth gnashing about the marketing and it being too soon for more talents you would think Cover had a bad track record with recruiting and marketing.

This drop has put everyone into a feeding frenzy. Hope they drop lead up time and ride this wave.

So those are some weird oshi marks for some of them. Some of them make sense.

• Ao (Kronii v3.0) has a pen because her kayfabe is that she's suppose to be a mangaka
• Kanade (Pomu v2.0) has a keyboard and stars because she's suppose to be a musician
• Ririka (Bae but minus the rodents) kinda makes sense too because she's suppose to be the entrepreneur and her icon is a city night with stars.

But then you have these last two

• Raden (Ina v2.0) is suppose to enjoy rakugo but has a seashell for an icon
• Hajime is suppose to be a jane-of-all-trades but she has a penguin and lightbolt icon (edit: Just saw her mama's art, the penguin is suppose to be her mascot)

INNK was a different company that could only manage one talent in the end and had a partnership with Hololive. Azki and Suiseis growth since joining Hololive should give you some confidence

It might be the combination of lessons learned from INNK and from Calli's & Suisei's label contracts.

It's also entirely possible this setup is entirely the result of the sponsorship opportunities/friction since they didn't have a ready made "idol group" and far more Japanese companies are comfortable with dealing in that manner.

I'd say it was much more of the similarity (whole new sub-branch) rather than direct confirmation of an INNK clone, and since the later are managed by different staff as well anyway

INNK was a project, but I'm 90% sure it was some collaboration between Holo and another nip corpo, though I'm unsure if it was Activ8 or Entum and cannot find a source though I'm sure I read that somewhere.
