Liquid Mucinex Severe Congestion and Cough usually works pretty well for me.

Edit: Seems like it has the same active ingredients as what @God's Strongest Wardog recommended plus a bit of Phenylephrine HCI. So something along those lines.

Phenylephrine is completely worthless unless applied topically apparently, most of the over the counter decongestants don't really work that well.

Knew a guy years ago who said he liked to sniff a bit of mdma to clear out the sinuses/general congestion. Could try that then drive gran to surgery.
